Hey yall, been super busy with life to post on THR in awhile.

Quick question, So im thinking of buying a dedicated 9mm for IDPA SSP. Ive been shooting CDP but shooting .45 is gonna make me broke. Hence the switch.

Ive narrowed it down to a Beretta 92A1 or Glock 34, anyone have opinions on which to choose?

So general Specs alone: The beretta has a 4.9" barrel and 6.3" sight radius, the Glock 34 has a 5.31" barrel and 7.55" sight radius.

Thoughts?

The Survey Says...

Glock.

The line count at the 2013 Nationals was 16% G34s + 6% G17, all striker fired 50%.
All makes and models of DA/SA were 5%, not even worth breaking out by make. There were more revolvers than DA/SA autos.

Not a glock fan boy, and I don't own one, but I'd always recommend a pistol with a consistent trigger action. No DA/SA pistols for me. Always DA would be OK if it's slick.

I shoot a Sig for IDPA and I am in the big time minority. Mostly Glocks, some Smiths and Springfield XD's. Almost never see a Beretta. From your question I think the answer is Glock all the way.

Either one would be fine. Between those guns, practice will impact your performance 99.9% more than the gun.

.45 is gonna make me broke.

Reload, reload, reload. Even 9mm can get pricey if you shoot 4 matches a month..

As for beretta vs glock... Which do you shoot better?

I've never ran my Berettas in competition, and currently run a 17 in USPSA (Only because it was one of the only guns I owned that was legal for production and mags were not unobtanium).

However, it is really more about the Indian than the Arrow anyhow. Run what ya brung.

SSP I would lean towards Glock 34, or 17. 34 has longer barrel and sight radius.

CDP, I shoot Sig Sauer 1911 TTT. Glock is good. I have both.

be safe

There is a ton of folks shooting IDPA with G-34's.

Goid luck finding a holster for that 92FSA1. The rail makes it really tough.
