OT: Recommend a version of Photoshop?

I would like to get a version of Photoshop but I don't know which one. I would be using it to play around with some car pictures that I have, you know, chopping the roof, changing body colors, etc. I can get Photoshop 5, online thru eBay for about 30 bucks but I am unsure how good that version is. Any advice is appreciated. Mods, please move this post where appropriate. Thank you...

I'm using version 5.5. I've paid for versions 6 and 7, and have 7 on my main hard drive, but continue to use 5.5 because a.) it's considerably less ugly, and b.) it runs my old third party filters, which the newer versions don't.
Be sure the right version of the manual is included with the CDs. It's one of the best manuals ever written, and well worth the time invested in reading it.

I use ps 7 but that becuse of the custom made actions for my canon digi work best with it .. 5.5 is better than 6 and i still dont really care for 7 myself ..

Is there really a lot of difference between versions 5.0 and 5.5? The pic altering I want to do seems pretty simple, I have done a one picture already with just MS Paint and it looked reasonably good, except it is a bit blotchy and I had trouble matching the background of the areas I had edited. The pic is below, is this something that could be cleaned up better with 5.0? BTW, the pic is of my Lincoln and the body mods I would like to do...

Don, could you leave this thread open a tiny bit longer to get a couple more replies to my last question? I would appreciate it. Also, would it be possible for the Moderators to create a new category for OT threads like mine and others? Name it "Non-gun related discussion" or something, and all the threads that don't fit anywhere else could go in there without ruffling the feathers on the members. Just an idea...

Sweet looking pic i would go for 5.5 over 5 just seemd to be less problems with 5.5 vs 5 when i ran them for my taste.
