FML!

I just strolled by a gunshop and saw a new EKA i hadnt seen before.
http://www.ebay.de/itm/OESZ20N-OUTDOOR-EDGE-OUTDOOR-EDGE-SWINGBLAZE-WITH-NYLON-SHEATH-/380906072412?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_77&hash=item58afc5695c

So i asked the clerk to get it out of its plastic packaging to have look.

Seeing the ancient swingblade mechanism i just touched the protruding piece,
while inspecting the beefy scandi blade ....

... my next word was "MEEEDIC!!!!"

Holy crap - the blade on the inside is a sharp as a scalpel! :what:
It cut 6mm into the flesh of my thumb just by touching it.

VERY DANGEROUS, if you dont know how it works.

Otherwise a very fine piece from EKA. Scary sharp.
For people who have to work a lot of game ..... a good choice i`d say.

Here`s the vid from EKA. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ggxURrsRNs

Outdoor Edge has been making that knife for quite a while.
The curved edge is supposed to be sharp as a scalpel.

BTW, there shouldn't have been any "protruding piece" to get against if the blade is in the locked position. Bad product quality control to have let one out with an exposed edge.

hso

well, the product was in a plastic display packaging - with both blades in an exposed position. Me - not having understood THAT there was a second blade,
went for what i though to be the handle that flicks the scandi blade out.

it was so sharp ... it did not even hurt. At all.

If I owned a cutlery shop, there'd be a "YOU BLEED ON IT, YOU BOUGHT IT" sign behind the counter.

:-) Indeed hso, when i saw what had happened i was really happy to not have severed anything useful.

Nothing heals like such a clean cut into flesh.
I already took off the bandaid. I guess another week and it will be fully healed.
