You might just do better with one of the cheap Airsofts.

The rubber ones I see for sale are the red training ones for practicing retention and disarms etc. and are priced way over what they're worth because they're "official training quality" blah blah.... The movie industry has lots of rubber guns for arming the extras, but the prop gun firms probably cast thier own from moulds made off of one of the originals..

Single shot spring cocker M-16's are availible cheap from several catalog sources. It'd probably even be easy to disable it further by removing the mainspring, so you couldn't even in trouble for having a functional Airsoft, should that be a concern. A little flat black Krylon sprayed on the orange "don't shoot me" tip, and you're all set. Half the time, the orange paint the importers use is water based, since they know most people want to take it off.

Centerfire has a replica M4 listed among all the real ammo and rifles for $80:

I'm sure you could find them at even lower prices if you searched the Internet for"Airsoft M16" or "AR", and "Spring Cocking". Spring cockers or "springers" are the bottom of the Airsoft barrel, as compared to the full auto rechargable battery guns, or the gas charged magazine pistols, so they're the cheapest.

Try SARCO, they have old movie props from time to time. I'd give them a call and ask. A lot of that type stuff never makes their ads in the SGN.

I've seen a couple at guns shows. They wanted $400 for them. :scrutiny:

My dad has one he picked out of a dumpster on Ft. Gordon in the late 1970s. M-16A1 weight, and size, but with a big ass crack in it.
