Did it shoot good? Was it reliable? Mine is. And my MK9 eats brass for lunch.

Kahrs, because of their very tight tolerances, tend to deform brass on extraction. This is not a pistol you will want to keep brass after shooting for reloading. It is purely a defensive weapon. Practice with it only to keep proficient with the weapon.

There is nothing wrong with your Kahr unless it malfunctions. Throw the brass away after practice. It's okay.

Welcome to THR, gotbass. :)

Dunno enough to diagnose whether you have a problem or not, but I can speak for Kahr's service.

I discovered a gouge in my MK9 Elite's barrel from little metal shavings from inside my pistol. I believe they came from something scraping the brass during the cycling. Anyhow, I sent the pistol back to Kahr, and in less than a week, they shipped the pistol back to me with a new barrel, new slide stop spring, free polish job, and they installed night sights for me free of charge (normally a $25 job).

Pistol's shoots great now, and there are no more shavings.

How's that for service?

Mine does this too w/the PM40. Only on the last round though.

No biggie. Flawless otherwise.

IF you go to Kahr's web site at http://www.kahr.com and download the generic manual you'll find this issue addressed on page 18.

Basically kahr says that dented cases are NORMAL, and the gun doesn't need service.

As above, the Kahr IS NOT a target shooter or plinker for reloaders.
It's not a 1911 which can be tuned to eliminate damage, but still be reliable.

It's a pure defense gun, and the state of ejected brass is a non-issue.

The only "test" for the Kahr is whether it reliably operates.

In short, nobody sane worries about what color their life vest is, what design is on the seat belt, how shiny the hard hat is, or what the brass ejected from the gun that just saved their life looks like.

My K9 tears the case rim up, AND dents the case mouth but is still 100% reliable.

If your Kahr is reliable.....Don't "fix" it. It's doing what it's supposed to do.

I agree. Anyone that has shot an H&K rifle or a Norinco AK in .223 knows that brass is darn near useless for reloading after a few cycles.

I could resize H&K brass, but the cosmetic finish was gone. And I could just about do the same with that .223 brass, but there was still a gash about midway into the side of the case.

I just segmented special brass to these types of guns, used them, and when the brass looked like it crossed the 'safety threshold,' I threw it away.

But then, I usually find more 'once fired' brass than I destroy.

My K40 does the exact same thing. I just throw the brass in the range's brass bin.

I've got 3 Kahrs: K9, K40, and MK9. All three dent the brass. All three are reliable and accurate.

Ignore the dented brass -- it's normal for the Kahr.

I have and love a Kahr P40. The brass comes out great and I have reloaded Kahr bras regularly. I actually enjoy shooting the P40 and sometimes do 100 rounds or so at the range. Accurate and comfortable and my brass is fine.

However, I am intending to trade it off for a PM40.. but after reading this, I'm wondering if that's a good idea.

Better yet, maybe I better keep the weird P40 that doesn't dent brass and just add the PM40 to the collection. ;)
