I read a reference to Bushmaster lightweight ARs in another thread. Anyone have any further information on them?

AFAIK, they're "uppers" only, and so far are only offered in Pre-ban configuration. (last time I looked)

And just looking at the numbers on the Bushmaster website, I don't see a whole lot of savings over a fluted barrel...

I think Olympic makes a lightweight complete AR.
