Remington gives a velocity of 1,160 fps from a 24" barrel - see here (http://www.remington.com/NR/exeres/000010e6vcnqihtbhgrdkrjk/cf_new.asp?NRMODE=Published&cal=51&NRORIGINALURL=%2fammo%2fballistics%2fcenterfire%2fresults%2easp%3fcal%3d51&NRNODEGUID=%7bA9844B79-5526-4399-BA9E-F50A29C8B754%7d&NRQUERYTERMINATOR=1&cookie%5Ftest=1) for full ballistics for their round.

From the Oehler Ballistic Explorer ammo library:

Remington catalog # R4440W 200 grain soft point B.C.=0.161 muzzle velocity 1190fps from 24 inch test barrel.

Winchester catalog # X4440 200 grain soft point B.C.=0.161, muzzle velocity 1190fps from 24 inch test barrel..

Norma’s ballistic program (http://www.norma.cc/htm_files/javapagee.htm), with its sliders, is a great place to play. Of course, empirical data from your tests with your rifle will always trump calculations.

According to' Cartridges of the World' The factory load was 200@1310 but could be handloaded with smokeless powder to 1850. Some of those type cartridges had at one time, high velocity rifle loads but so many idiots used them in revolvers that they were dropped.
