Scuttlebut on U.S. Secret Police

Whats with all the talk on the news today about the possiblity of a seperate branch of the FBI becoming a so called "Homeland Intelligence" division.
Secret police is not a thing the U.S. citizens would take to very kindly.
Whats your take and how would you react if the Government decided to do such a thing?

I fear you give the average American sheep too much credit. Long as they can still have SUV's, 400 cable channels and the illusion of security, I doubt that many care...
