so, my assistant manager at work is planning on selling his anaconda in 44Magnum. it's about 3 years old, and knowing him, it was probably cleaned more than it was shot. I seriously doubt he put more than 40 rounds through it. however, this would be my first revolver. I had been looking at getting a RSB or a Taurus Raging Bull in .454Casull, because it was a blast when I rented one, but I know I won't be losing much power with the 44Mag, plus ammo is a smidge cheaper. comes with case, manual, and cleaning kit, and from what I'm told, it's as new. so, I guess the point of all my rambling is: is $500 a good price for this piece? was Colt having GC problems at that time? am I insane?(I already know the answer to that one.:neener: )

The Anaconda isn't a bad revolver; if you expect it to be a large Python, however, you're going to be disappointed.

I've shot 2, handled a few. Of the 2 I shot one had a really nce trigger & was very accurate. The other one tho had a trigger that felt "tight" rather than heavy. It felt almost sticky. If you could hold your aim, it was equally accurate, just a nasty trigger.
If you can check out the trigger & it is acceptable to you, buy it!

That is an excellent price for an Anaconda. I have not seen one at any price for a while. The few that I have handled seemed well made. The trigger is based on the King Cobra and feels very similar. It is not as nice as a well timed and polished Python, but it is not as weak either! The use of a coil main spring gives the double action a stacking feel as opposed to the constant pressure feel of a flat spring. For $500, I don't think you can go wrong unless the gun has been abused.
