GUN AND AMMO MANUFACTURERS COULD NOT BE SUED UNDER PROPOSED BILL
A bill barring people from suing makers of guns and ammunition simply because their products can cause injury or death was approved today in a House committee.
The legislation by Representative Jim Medley of Fort Smith provides that people could still sue if the weapon or ammunition was defective.
Medley says he's trying to keep people from suing gun makers for actions beyond their control.
Marianne McBeth, with Rogers-based Daisy Outdoor Products, said that while such suits are not a problem in Arkansas yet, they could be in the future.
The House Judiciary Committee sent the bill to the full House on a voice vote.
