perplexing revolver purchase direction

I've been thinking about a Smith 340 or 342. I had previously been looking at Tauruses (Taurii?) and Rugers (Rugerii?). Then it occurred to me: the price of a 340 isn't much different than that of a taurus and an sp-101. Been thinking about ankle/pocket carry and switching over to snub revolver as my primary carry.

I imagine I would pay over 500$ for a new 340. However, a used Taurus would cost me about 250$ and a used SP-101 about 350$. And thus the question. If you could have one smith 342 (or 340) or a Taurus plus an SP-101, what would you do?

Couple of asides: The 340 and the SP-101 is not an option. And please, no "Glock!"

While I like S&W's and have had good Taurii. My first thought is what fits your hand and shooting style and how you are going to carry it.

How light is the 340 and how does it compare to the Taurus and the mini tank sp101?

I personally like my S&W mod 60 3"

I'd buy two Smiths or two Rugers or a mix of them.
I just prefer them over the Taurus product.

The Ruger SP101 sounds like a good deal.:)

I've had the best luck w/ S&W revolvers and spotty luck at best w/ Tauri. So, based on my experience, get the Smith ;)

S&W all the way. Although I have great respect for the Ruger revolvers, I like them more for their Single-Actions, not the Doubles...

I have shot a Taurus from time to time, though I have never owned one. They were decent enough, but do you want "decent enough" when your life is on the line?

Just an observation;)

I'd get 2 decent guns instead of 1 decent gun.
And I've rewritten this post three times to avoid a needless rant.

Aren'tcha PROUD of me???? :D
