I usually use Win white box or S&B for practice but figured I'd try the new Blazer Brass 9mm FMJ and I'm glad I did. My groups shrunk significantly into one big hole at 50 ft. It was like shooting a laser beam. I don't know if my pistol just likes this load or if Blazers loading equipment is new and is making tighter tolerance ammo than the other guys but whatever they're doing it works for me. There is more flash with this ammo but that's not a problem for me. No more WW or S&B for me as long as Blazer doesn't raise its price.

I have used regular Blazer alloy case ammo and I have found it to be very accurate also. Some of my guns won't feed the alloy cases but it always seems to be very accurate.

I can't wait to try the brass case Blazer. What is a good price for a box of 9mm?

Blazer Brass is all I have ever fed my HK, it has been very accurate and is quite cheap... somthing like $9 out the door in .40

I used to use Blazer in my wheel guns and in my old Ruger P89, but since I have gotten back into handguns after an 8-year sabbatical I haven't been using Blazer in autoloaders. Until yesterday. I picked up 100 rounds of .45 ACP, 50 rounds of .380, and 50 rounds of 9mm. The .45 and .380 functioned flawlessly and I had great groupings. I also had great groupings with my PC9, as usual, but I also had my first failure to load in the 2000+ rounds I've ran through that gun. When I examined the offending shell, I found the bullet was seated too deep and the round was nearly .25 inch shorter than a normal round. This caused the round to pop up from the magazine before the bullet entered the chamber.

I'll still keep using the Blazer because it's a lot cheaper than the WWB .45 ACP value pack (about $2/100 cheaper) and slightly cheaper than the WWB 9mm ($.50/100 cheaper), and it's a lot cleaner. Plus I shot a box of WWB 9mm for comparison and I got better groupings with the Blazer. But if I have another failure like the one I experienced yesterday, I may go back to the WWB ammo.

I've been buying the Blazer Brass .45 230 fmj at Natchez for $8.40 per box of 50. So far, it appears to be a good load. Consistently accurate and relatively clean.

The round in question was a full 1/4" shorter? That's a big difference for any cartridge, especially a handgun cartridge. Do you mean 1/16" shorter?

I mainly use aluminum cased Blazer and found it to be more accurate than WWB and S&B. And since I don't reload, it's the best cheap ammo I can find.

I found some at Gander Mountain for $6.50 per 50 rnd box in 9mm. I'm not sure if that is more than the Al cased stuff. My CZ wouldn't extract the aluminum cases consistantly so I gave up on it. It LOVES the brass cases and I prefer it over the UMC I've been using....much cleaner too.

Got a Gander Mtn. down yer way, clubsoda22? Their prices can be a little high but the selection tends to be better than average for around here.

I encountered poor crimping / bullet setback in two of the three boxes of .45ACP I've shot so far at my local range. However, it was noticed that an ENTIRE row of rounds was setback in one of these boxes, so something may have occurred in shipping.

That said, I've found it to be accurate and pleasent to shoot. Planning on buying more given the price. I've fired 1000's of rounds of the aluminum cased blazer in 9mm, 40S&W, 45ACP, 38SPL, 357Sig, 357Mag with only one noticable ammo caused malfunction. That was a 38SPL case that split in my 686, saw a brighter flash than usual, round keyholed. No damage to gun or shooter. Glad it was a revolver.....

I like the alloy cased ammo because it's very accurate but my gun throws the cases right back onto the top of my head, very distracting. Brass cased ammo doesn't do this so maybe I'll have to try some blazer brass.

They've been out of .40 everytime so I'm not sure what they sell it for.

Jeff, yes, about 1/16 inches shorter. Sorry, my mistake. I tossed the round because I didn't want to accidentally load it in a magazine.
