Hello everyone,

I was beginning to get real sick of coming to this forum and not being able to post anything because I wasnít a member :cuss:....but as of today I'm a new member of this wonderful forum :D. Now I was just wondering if you all would like to share some pictures of your revolvers? I know I have posted this same thread on a couple of other sites but I thought posting it one more time here wouldnít hurt :o...Thanks in advance and take care ;).

Jeff--did I mention I hate you? I'm small that way. Small and bitter. No man should have that many Pythons. Stunningly beautiful pony guns.

My own Colt is a good deal more humble

Its actually a Model 28-2 that I picked up from another THRer for I think 200 bucks. The other "little" gun in my pic is a K frame model 64-2.

Nothing like waking up to revolver porn in the morning!!!

There are some beautiful wheelguns here. Jeff continues to remind me why I need to add a Colt to my collection one day :) - maybe I'll start with a classic DS. And a M28 for $200!!! :what: bill larry, you didn't buy that 28 off a THR member, you stole it!

Thanks everyone so far for posting your beautiful sixguns!!!

Well, here is my humble collection ... but only 2 of the 4 are sixguns: one is a 5 shooter and the other is a 7 holer ;) .

You guys have some nice revolver collections!!

Here's a few that I have on my 'puter. I'll post some more when I get back home... I'm partial to Ruger single actions, but have a couple of nice Smiths as well.

July 1, 2007, 12:30 PM

Here is my re-run. L Frame. CS-1 (US Customs Service Issue) 3 inch .357. 2M stamp. Beadblasted finish.

Astra Cadix .22

Only two for now but always looking :D

July 2, 2007, 12:42 AM
Cosmoline: Wow! I love that Ruger Speed Six!! Wanna sell or trade it?

Thanks! It took me years to find one locally. The guy wanted to sell it for $100, but I talked him up to $200. It's a sweet shooter, just about the perfect weight and balance for .357 magnums.

My 3" GP-100 in 357mag, just back from Gemini Customs:

Did someone say Colt ?

How about a 5 inch Anaconda ?

or a bright polished King Cobra ?

or even "3" shorty Kings ?

July 2, 2007, 06:36 PM
Holy hell, I didn't know Hartford ever turned out a 5" Anaconda!

Pity that Colt has gone by the wayside and no longer makes revolvers. :(

July 2, 2007, 06:53 PM
Holy hell, I didn't know Hartford ever turned out a 5" Anaconda!

They made 'em, not very many mind you. Heck they aren't even mentioned in any books, but she's factory produced.

July 2, 2007, 07:29 PM
not as classy or refined, but quite functional.

some have been used for LE work and some still are.....but mostly theyve been regulated as "house guns" and "woods guns".

July 2, 2007, 07:56 PM
Dang it, now I've got at least 2 dozen more wheelies on my wish list!

How about an 1861 Navy carried by my Great Grandfather in the Civil War?

Wow, this gets my vote as the coolest, most interesting gun on this thread.

July 3, 2007, 11:36 PM
You guys have some great wheelies!!!
Here is my FA .454 Premier Grade with .45Colt and .45ACP Cylinders

Also are three S&W .44s (and my finger at the bottom of the mirror)

Enjoy, have a safe and happy 4th!!

I would too Hex, dems is sum beauties.
The Badgers look sweet on there as well.

July 4, 2007, 09:42 AM
"Let's see your revolvers!!!"

All of them?

How about a small sample?

A pair of 3rd Model 44s. One in back was shipped in 1928 and the closer one in 1939 to Wolf & Klar and Oshmanís respectively. I know the stocks are horribly wrong but these refinished guns are just shooters and the big stocks are more comfortable for shooting.

A trio of 3.5Ē 357s. From back to front a 1956 shipped to Utah, a 1950 sent to W. Va.and a 1975 that I never lettered.

My most expensive handgun is this Registered Magnum. Itís one of 50 shipped in 1938 to the Utah Highway Patrol.

I guess we need a couple Colts just to be fair. My Pythons:

July 4, 2007, 09:48 AM
mfetty77- What happen to your Smith and Wesson Model 19 :(?

Thanks everyone for keeping this thread alive. I will be going to the Colt Firearm Museum in Connecticut and will take many pictures...Then I just have to figure out how to post them ;).

July 4, 2007, 11:42 AM
I would too Hex, dems is sum beauties.
The Badgers look sweet on there as well.

Thanks Jeff ! Coming from you , whom I consider to be something of a wheelgun god , I take that as a real nice compliment. :D

July 4, 2007, 12:07 PM
Man, there are some beeeyoootiful guns and pics posted here by you guys!

My pics aren't that great but here they are nonetheless.

August 1, 2007, 04:15 AM
I like pictures of fancy new revolvers but I would much prefer to see some WELL WORN revolvers and the story behind their use.....

What have ya got?

All I have is the Smith 10-6 that has German proof marks on it - I have no idea the reason it has such markings, perhaps imported for police or military use.

August 1, 2007, 09:23 AM
Must be to many shiny revolvers around here that nobody is using, thats a shame.

August 1, 2007, 11:08 AM

Try the ugly revolver thread.

August 1, 2007, 11:49 AM
This one was my Great-Granfather's. It seems to have been around the block a couple times (but it's not really too bad, all things considered).

August 1, 2007, 09:56 PM
How about this S&W 10-5 willed to me by an uncle, that has major blueing wear from the ins & outs of the holster. The right grip panel has seen its share of seatbelt and door bumping to the point it is almost smooth. He wore it on duty.

August 1, 2007, 11:58 PM
I'm noticing a trend here. K frames get used.;)

August 2, 2007, 12:03 AM

Not mine, but I covet this one greatly.........

August 2, 2007, 12:09 AM
XavierBreath, that's a SWEET old bulldog. Is that an original barrel or cut? I swear I can see writing on it.

August 2, 2007, 12:21 AM
S&W 38 Special 15-2 CTG
Ruger Single Six 22lr/22mag both circa 66.s&w was used by an LAPD officer from then till 98' and then both passed along to me. (

August 2, 2007, 02:40 AM
I'll have to take some pics of my S&W 28-2 Highway Patrolman. It's an ex-cop gun, but unfortunately it was used so hard it's gone out of time and needs to be repaired. When it was working OK it was a great shooter though, so it's on the list to be fixed.

What's cool is I actually tracked down the PD that issued the gun and got some info on the issue and use of that model from the current Chief of Police. He was just starting out with that department when that gun was standard issue and shared some stories.

August 4, 2007, 09:23 PM
How about my on-duty back-up gun and summertime off-duty gun?

August 4, 2007, 11:11 PM

Aw damnit man! You win by default.

bill larry
August 5, 2007, 12:13 AM
Here's my well worn Model 28-2. I bought this a few months ago from a fellow THR member for either 200 or 220, I can't remember. It has quickly become my favorite revolver to shoot, as I don't feel that I need to "baby" it.

August 5, 2007, 02:56 PM
this pistol and holster were used by a security agent to guard a Standard Oil plant in New Jersey during WWII. Unfortunately I don't know the rest of the history. Fire blue still on trigger and hammer. Bill

August 6, 2007, 01:08 PM
I have a few that I had bead blasted and dull finish like the early S&W you show.

Some will say it hurts resale. :what: How about practical application;)

I have a 1917 Colt that is well used and cut up, but no pics.

August 6, 2007, 01:12 PM
I bought this a few months ago. Pre-Model 10, Military and Police, manufactured sometime between 1947 and 1952, I think.

Harley Quinn
August 6, 2007, 01:17 PM
I sure have seen a lot of those, plus the colts of that era.

They are the ones most of the detective movies have in them along with the Detective special (colt). Movies had guys getting shot at 25 yds with them:what:

I know a man who missed with 5 rounds and hit with the 6th, why I never carried the 5 shot:uhoh:

August 11, 2007, 12:59 AM
I have a few more roscoe's and semi's, but don't have group pics of them.

But that was because i never shot one.
This .45 handles recoil better then i ever thought. this one is a dream to shoot.

August 13, 2007, 11:13 AM
That's probably the most beautiful 627 I've ever seen ...even if it does have that lock :barf:. Would you mind telling me what kind of grips you have on her because they sure do look nice. Take care of yourself, and thanks for sharing ;).

nice wheelguns folks, I like those polished colts, too bad I got into the game kinda late, lawyer locks and sandpaper finishes have been the norm for smiths, and colts are all but nonexistent. Makes me a little envious of some of my elders here.

Nice revolvers.

August 25, 2007, 09:41 AM
Didn't really need another revolver, but picked up this used Taurus 85 yesterday as it looked to be in excellent shape. Wanted a pocket pistol that was somewhat beefier than my P-32 for an "out the door" gun / pocket pistol for summer carry.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic

1926 Colt Army Special .38 Special
1983 S&W Model 19-5 .357 Magnum

Here's my small collection of revolvers. None are pristine. They all are "shooters". The Fronier Scout is the newest member of my small but growing revolver collection.
My Great Grandfather worked for Colt from the time he arrived in the States until he retired, so I concentrate on old Colts. I have a few pre war "shell chuckers" in the Colt collection as well. Too bad I live in Mass. where aquiring old Colts is a very difficult task.

All get used pretty regularly, and the Amy Special & the 19 are my every day CCW's.

September 5, 2007, 10:48 AM
Thank you GunTech!

Yes I am fond of these times as well...

My next revolver will probably be a Galand.

I also love American weel guns in general (I own several cap n' ball repros, as originals from the late 19th centrury are way too expensive over here for me to ever be able to afford one). Your collection makes me jealous too!

And finally the S&W 686-2 8 3/8" barrel .357 Magnum I picked up this afternoon.

My newest. Picked this up this morning. SBH (New Model) .44mag 5 1/2". Used, but in real good shape. Actually this is my first non-smith&wesson revolver. Also my first single action. A single is something I never owned one of, but always had sort of a childish desire for. I don't know if it serves any real purpose for me, but I like looking at it, so that's reason enough, right ?

Other shots, same gun:

The 66 is from the first year of production when the members of my shift all decided to buy these guns to look alike and 'cool'. Naturally, we were split up to different shifts shortly after they arrived.

Contrary to looks, there is a square butt hiding under those Pachmyers. Also, I sent the book to Bill Jordan, who autographed it, as you can see.

The Doc is out now.

September 16, 2007, 07:06 PM
Circa 1903, Colt model 1901... My Grandpa's... used often. Handed down and shot with .38 special for it's life until I read up on it and discovered those are too hot for it.... so now I buy .38 Long Colt's which is the intended round. Not sure who started shooting the .38 Specials, but it was a long time ago :D

I'm new to the forum, but I've been visiting this site for about a year. I finally got some nice pics of my two guns, and decided that I wanted to share my rugers. I hope that the attachment works!!

September 20, 2007, 08:33 PM
The first picture was a little small. I wanted to post a bigger picture.

The two guns are a 4" Ruger GP100 and a 7.5" Ruger Single Six Hunter.

September 21, 2007, 09:50 AM
My revolvers....

I had to crop the edges quite a bit to fit the forum size limit, and my digi-cam stinks in any pic closer than 15', but here they are:

NRA/Wm. B. Ruger Commemorative MKII
50th Year .357 Blackhawk
Pietta "Navy Colt" .44
"Sheriff's Model" .357 Vaquero
50th Year Single Six, .22Mag cylinder installed

OK, OK, the MKII is not a revolver, but there was so much whining about not being in the Family Photo....

I just KNEW someone was going to ask lol! Actually I had forgotten but then my memory came back to me. They work great and actually ride half way on the belt to they don't stick out and blow your cover. They also ride high and are adjustable.

They are a pain in the arse to break in but when they do they are very easy to take on and off.

They are made by DeSantis here's the link:

Took me forever to find them when I was looking to buy some.

A Gold Box and a Red Box but what did the S prefix M&P ship in?

Seiko - Nice revolvers, and nice photos also, wish I could take as nice shots as you do.

December 22, 2007, 08:43 PM
:( Ahhh wish I had a red box snif...

I have a pair of M&P's that should have red boxes with them but alas no boxes. I get tempted every time I see one on gunbroker to buy it just for the box :)

I kinda think that the M&P gold box is better looking then the K38 gold. The writing on the K-38 makes me think of the 60's for some reason.

Don't have my date book handy, give me a few and Ill get it for ya.

December 22, 2007, 09:38 PM
Will5A1 Sorry when I read your post thought you were asking for date when the S started, not what box.

S would have been in the gold box. Red is for pre war stuff. (There might be a few odd balls to that)

Anyhow the S serial # prefix started March 23 1948 until 1957 I think it was when they came out with the model numbering system with the model 10.

December 23, 2007, 05:36 AM
Seiko - my apologies, I should of prefaced my question with the warning "Silly arcane quiz for obsessive S&W collectors" or not posted the question and just admitted I was showing off revolver boxes - that is an early post war long action M&P, as is the red box, which is two piece. S&W used some of these red boxes in the early post war years, along with some left over pre-war hinged top red boxes. It isn't clear to me when the switch was made to the gold box. The S prefix serial numbers switched to the C prefix in 1948 for the M&P.

I've been trying to take a photo of a nice 22/32 Kit Gun from 1954 with its box but I can't get a photo that looks halway decent, if and when I manage it I'll post it.

December 23, 2007, 06:27 AM

This model 28-2 followed me home today. As new today as it was in 1977. Other than factory testing, it appears to be unfired. As much as I want to shoot an N frame, I think it might not be this one ...yet.
