Nope, but I have noticed a LOT of people out there that play CounterStrike seem to think that makes them an expert on firearms :cuss:

Nope.:D

P.S. i don't realy have either .:(
But I do have a standing offer with my buddy to buy a .50 DE as soon as he shoots it once .;)

Not really, but my favorite video game does make me lust after a .50 sniper rifle. :o

Nope, that's what movies are for. It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of young bucks run out and buy a .338 magnum, or any magnum for that matter, based on a video game.
HBK, try one first. A couple grand and 6 or 7 bucks or more a shot may change your mind about actually owning one. It's kind of like wanting an MG. Fun to play with and certainly not evil in any way, but geezuz the cost of ammo....

BFG9000 from doom II. Last guy to mess with me was vaporized by a superheated ball of plasma.

BTW, after not playing duck hunt for about a decade, i got up to level 20 with a score of 588600 tonight.

I have never bought a gun based on one I used in a video game. However, in Call of Duty, I enable cheats and use an M1 Garand throughout the game. The Garand, in reality, has been my favorite rifle for years.

Counter Strike is the reason I am a gun owner.

After about 4 years of playing that game I decided to purchase an AR15.
Got my first job to get that rifle... I cherish that thing.

i couldn't stop my friend. he's a proud H&K owner now, with a beretta concubine.

i myself stopped playing counter-strike when it went retail - i couldn't handle the massive influx of newbies. switched to planetside, which has no real-life weapons.

no game influenced my p99 purchase (research and personal preference), although i think my woman bought her ppk because of goldeneye for the nintendo

Never bought a real gun based on a videogame.

However, the reverse is not true. I often pick what I have in real life (or as close an analog as possible) in a videogame regardless of what the popular choices are in that game universe.

I haven't yet but I really want an M1 Garand because of Medal of Honor and Call of Duty!!!

Does it count if I first saw the P99 in a Bond movie and said, "hmm, that looks interesting" and it led to an eventual purchase, because it is prettier than a Glock 17?

Ashamed to admit...but it was Jagged Alliance 2 that awakened my latent interest in firearms. but it was this page http://www.a-human-right.com/RKBA/garand.html
that 'made' me buy a firearm.
that was 3 years ago. Haven“t bought any 'video game based' firearms though.

I've got some bug-ridden crappy FPS called "Secret Service," which cost me ~$9.00 at Wal-Mart on a rainy day. The only redeeming feature of the game is that for every gun in there (S&W .38, Sig P229, Glock 22, Beretta M9, 1911A1, MP5SD, MP5K, Uzi, M11, M4, FNFAL, AK-47, SPAS-12, Mossberg 590, G36, AR-10, PSG-1, and RPG) the right mouse button brings up the actual iron sight picture of that specific gun (except for the PSG-1, G36, RPG, and AR-10 as they're all scoped).

My thing is that I only use semi mode for the M4, AK, Uzi, M11, and FAL... makes it seem more "realistic" to me. :p Also I have a tendency to start a mission with only a 1911 and pick up an AK off the first terrorist I kill.

I like running around with an M14 or FAL in R6: raven shield. Nothing beats it in semi, running around... BOOM BOOM BOOM. Much funner than the poodle shooters.

Yeah, I'm in high school. We have a lot of that. "Dude, the Desert Eagle won't leave anything above the shoulders!" "My 30-06 will turn a deer's ribcage inside out!"
And...your a freak.

By the way, anyone noticed that the .338 AWM in Counter-Strike has the bolt on the wrong side? I think the scout does too, but I changed my Scout's skin.

the right mouse button brings up the actual iron sight picture of that specific gun
Same with Call of Duty. Sounds like I'll be needing 'Secret Service':D

Call of Duty has rekindled my desire for a 1911. I just finished the Allied missions, and used it to pistol-whip about 10 guys.

Battlefield Vietnam just came out and rocks - great music integration with 60s and 70s rock/protest songs blazing, can shoot out of moving vehicles.

Do any games store your magazine capacity, such that a tactical reload would result in one mag having fewer rounds? Most I've seen seem to just toss the unused mag.

I haven't played them in a few years, but I think the games of the Rainbow SIx series works that way.

Yeah, RB6 does exactly that but it also gives you so many magazines you have to be a bad shot to notice :)

Besides Wildfire, there's a crew of rabid fans who just finished up a complete mod for JA2 called "Urban Chaos". Entirely different storyline, world map, and weapons. Lots of fun and 100% free.

It's a bit dated now, but I always found that the 20-mm gatling gun from Serious Sam (The First Encounter) was a hoot, especially if you have big PC speakers and crank the bass and volume up. The actual gameplay of the videogame is pretty lousy, but the gatling gun is fun.
.........
For that matter, I can't exactly explain it, but I swear: you seem to miss out on a lot of you try to play these explosive/destructive types of PC games if you don't have at least a couple hundred watts of speakers for the sound effects......

Jake, how about a placebo? (http://www.poseidon.co.jp/3F/E&I/ei1.html)

Poseidon (http://www.poseidon.co.jp) has a neat selection of bizarre toys and replicas on it. My Japanese is lousy, but judging from the pictures, some of the kits, like this one (http://www.poseidon.co.jp/2F/seburo-cx/cx_1.html) and this one (http://www.poseidon.co.jp/2F/raisen/rai_1.html), look like they might amount to "body kits" for actual guns. The first one fits onto a fake PPK, and the second one can incorporate a toy AR receiver. I wonder if they'd hold up to the real deal? :p

Edit: This one (http://www.poseidon.co.jp/3F/seed/seed1.html) looks even more feasible, as far as PPK kits go.

I believe Soldier of fortune 2 does that IIRC. It was a pretty fun game in single player. Multiplayer is just too laggy unless on a lan.

N3Rday what part of Texas? Some of us could probably take you all shooting.

I annoy other guys at a LAN center because I'm very very good with a Lee-Enfield, M1, BAR, Mauser etc in Call of Duty. As I tell them, I either own or have shot/handled every gun in the game in real life, so......I know exactly how they're gonna handle in the game. I made a 300-yard-or-so shot, iron sights on the new map "Bocage" from the top of the glider wing and whacked a guy moving past a half-track with one shot. Considering the scoped sniper next to me missed and I didn't......... the sniper was just a litttle bit pissed.. :) (M1 Garand for me)

Never bought a gun based on a game, but I have bought plenty of games based on guns.

Anyone here tried Time Splitters 2? It is a FPS PS2 game that most folks never heard of. It has some fun guns in it and the gameplay and level design is awesome.
