crowning a chrome lined barrel?

Does anybody know if I crown a chrome lined barrel on my lathe will it cause the chrome lining to chip or flake? Thanks guys......

It could, and it will certainly remove the chrome on the crown. I would not do it unless there was no other choice to restore accuracy.

If you guage the speed correctly, have a sharp tool, and cut from the inside out, you should be okay. Unless you are taking off a large amount (1/4" or more) I don't see a problem.
