Well, I stopped in at one of my haunts today, and there sits the mini 1911... MKIV Series 80 government Model .380... they're asking $359 for it... nickel, I guess, with black hammer, trigger, and slide stop... nice little gun, first one I've held... I'm not a .380 fan, though... if that's a good price, it's at Gun City here in Nashville.

That is a good price.....I have a stainless steel version with a high polished slide. I've put a full length recoil rod in it and replced all the springs with a replacement packet from Wollfe springs. I love this little gun. Would I sell it?.....maybe but the money would have to be really good...alot more than the price you've found. I'd recommend this little gun to anyone that doesn't have a 380 already.........and probably even if you did already have a 380.

That's a good price but, I'm not a 380 fan either. Usually for the same size & weight, there are many better caliber alternatives...Kahr & Glock to name 2. The 380 Colts do seem like nice guns, it really depends on what you plan to do with...range & appreciation or actual CCW.

I like my MK9, but it is quite a bit heavier than the Colt Gov. .380.

I bought a Nickel Gov't 380 a couple of years ago. THe slide rattles it's so loose. BUt it does shoot OK.

I'm not a fan of the .380 round. But if I have to own one it has to be a 1911. I do carry it on occasion due to its weight and concealability.

I'm not a big fan of the .380, but just found a Colt mustang at a gunshow... very nice condition. Runs flawlessly. And small, small, small. Being a locked breech, the recoil is next to nothing (compared to the blow back designs.) Load it up with .380 CorBon 90 gr. +P and I think it would be a comforting gun to have in close quarters if you couldn't carry anything bigger.

Of course, if able to, I'd carry (next size up) a Kahr PM9. Then after than, a Kimber Compact .45. Followed by a Browning Hi-Power .40, and at the top, a Colt 1911 Government in .45. That's my heirarchy anyway.

I think the Mustangs will only go up in value. And for it's size, it's better than bare hands. But anything bigger in a .380, and you might as well be carrying a 9mm.

I bought my Colt Pony, a DAO, for $300, used, in nice condition. It is the alloy frame, double action only version, with the heavy trigger pull. I seen Colt 380's go from $450 to $650 at local gun shows. They are all nice guns, and the recoil on them is less than my 32 acp blowback gun, the Autauga. I want to get the Wolff spring kit for it also. A seven pound spring is better than my stock 9 pound one. I tried a Mustang lite, and should have bought it, it was a single action, with a smooth trigger pull, at $360, it also was a good deal.

I like my Government. Small, handy with a solid feel to it. Nice to have a backup with the same manual of arms as my 1911.

Not too keen on the .380 round, and it could use better sights. One's enough for me. :)

It's the nickel series 80. Blued safety, bushing, hammer, slide stop. Mine rattles like Smoke's does when it's taken apart, but it's a great shooter and easy to conceal. I liked mine so much, I bought a stainless one that I keep put away (I've shot it to make sure it works).

That's a good price on a great gun, IMHO.
