Ya finally PO'd Bryan Miller!

For those of ya'll elsewhere, and unfamiliar with the NJ Follies, Mr. Miller IS Ceasefire NJ, apparently a one man band.

Perhaps Steiner and his mates would feel more at home in a state such as ... Montana,

That's the best part.

With a violent crime rate barely two thirds of that of "The Garbage State", and clean air to boot, who wouldn't, Mr. Miller?

"His mates"? Yew ain't from around here, are you Mr. Miller?

What kind of idiot wouldn't prefer Texas or Montana over New Jersey, unless you had a really specific reason to be near New York City? Museums, Broadway, or whatever.
I don't even understand the way these people think.

Wrong on All Counts,

I recently read Mr. Miller’s response to Corey Stiener, and I am amazed at how wrong a person can be.

Mr. Miller essentially makes two arguments, both of which are false.

The first argument hinges on some notion that gun ownership is a privilege, and he appeals to “overwhelming voter support” as evidence. Let me be clear: even in New Jersey, gun ownership is a RIGHT for law abiding citizens, and the background checks, as onerous as they are, simply confirm that the citizen is in fact law abiding. Rights, such as life, free speech, and free worship, and the keeping and bearing of arms are NOT subject to the whim of the masses, and that is why they are enshrined, not granted, by the Constitution.

His next argument presupposes a link between rates of legal gun ownership and violence, a link that has been repeatedly shown to be false, both nationally and internationally. As British and Australian citizen’s access to defensive tools diminished, violence against them increased. Similarly, studies show that states that have “shall issue” carry permit laws have significantly lower violent crime rates than those, like NJ, who do not.

The fact is, the draconian gun laws of New Jersey do not work. The do not reduce gun crime in this, or any other state, and they do not benefit law abiding citizens.

Mr. Miller finally suggests that Mr. Stiener and “his mates” would feel more comfortable in a different state. Since Mr. Miller has indicated that he does not share with us the American values of Freedom, Liberty, Responsibility and Self Determination, I similarly suggest that he might feel more comfortable in one of those different western democracies he speaks so wistfully of.

While I, and most others are content with a “live and let live” philosophy, I find that I must draw the line when the beliefs of other involve interfering with my own rights and prerogatives.

Thank you very much, Sir. Maybe we're at a crossroads where more will get involved. Our government just upgraded the terrorist threat to condition Orange. As upsetting as it is (mostly for the simple reason that this war is so necessary), we'll be at war maybe in a day with, I think, a terrorist plan within our shores and very, very possibly in New Jersey.
I think that Mr. Miller's attack on me couldn't have come at a better time and I thank everyone who is willing and able fight using the most potent weapon of all time - the pen.
The time is now. Thank you again and thanks to everyone else for helping me to clarify my thoughts through your posts.
