Are machine guns OK in California? Suppressors? Short barreled rifles? AOW's?

Suppressors almost never, everything else with a special California permit. Bet you can guess how many of those they give out  I don't know of anyone who has successfully jumped through the hoops, but it is possible.

and by possible of course I mean it takes $$$, you're going to need a "friend" over there at CADOJ to push it all through. Ain't nothing free, especially Constitutional rights :barf:

So far, in my limited experience, the people that I know of with Class III items are LE instructors or in the movie prop business.
A workaround that I have heard of some people doing is incorporating. Then the guns are owned by your corporation.

Not an option in CA.

CA doesn't let people own AR15's or most older pistols. Really think there is much chance of owning a machine gun there?

I'd laugh, but this isn't really that funny after all. Even God would need to ask for permission (and be denied).

"CA doesn't let people own AR15's"
To clarify your statement. CA doesn't allow any new collectors the ability to purchase an AR15, but there are plenty of grandfathered AR's/AKs, evil black guns still here in CA. I personally have a few myself.
Getting back to the question. If your not a movie studio or someone with huge amounts of money/influence, forget the Class III.
I tried calling the local office of the ATF and asked if they would approve a Class III in CA. The agent just laughed at me and said that I could fill out an application and send in the fees, but it wouldn't be approved as CA doesn't allow them. I asked when it became illegal to own a Class III, and she said it wasn't illegal, just CA doesn't allow it. So forget about it. :fire: :fire:
