What is the general feeling about the quality and reliablity for the CZ line of Automatic Pistols. I see on their web site a new model with a 3" barrel 6.5" overall length that I might be interested in for CCW.

Got a rami sitting in front of me...I like the thing...only complaint that I have about it is the width of the grip...I got small hands and the safety is a bit out of my reach...This isnt a problem for me as long as I dont want to carry it "cocked and locked"...Which of course I do...Carries good in the pocket though...

Carries good in the pocket though

You must have large pockets. I think a S&W J-frame or Kahr PM9 would carry better in the pocket. The Rami is chunky. I was unimpressed with the trigger and the way the entire gun fit my hand. It's not a bad gun, just not what I was hoping for.

Chris,
I feel your pain...I know your torment (gunshow orders make me feel poetic..lol)...I sit here and TRY to love the Rami...It is just a bit to thick...Maybe slimmer grip panels??...If I decided to keep it, and not send it back to CZ, I might have to see about aquiring some slimmer grips for it...But prolly it is going back after I am done with it....

One of my bud's has larger hands than I, and loves the thing...

Yea I got big pockets...I had them cut so I could carry my P-11...Only cost about $5.00 per pocket and that extra punch makes me feel better...I carry a P3AT in a rear pocket holster 99% of the time, but the .380 is marginal as a self defense round whereas the 9mm is a bit better...The 40 is better still and the Rami shoots really well...Again it is a bit thick for my "paws" to "feel" right in my hands...

Beniot is the man!!!

To answer your question, the overall quality and reliability of CZ pistols is top notch. These guns are a great value. The CZ-75 is used by more militaries and police units than any other gun.

I love my CZs -- you can't go wrong with them.

The RAMI is very similar in size to a Sub-Compact Glock, but a bit heavier because of the all metal (alloy frame) construction. A stocky, well-built gun. I can carry mine in my pocket -- but there is no doubt it is large for that use. My only complaint is that the trigger is just o.k. -- it has a lot of takeup. That can be fixed, and mine will be.

Incidentally, the gun is DA, so you don't have to carry cocked and locked. You can easily and safety drop the hammer to the half-cock position (like all decocking CZ do) and carry it that way.

Its not a Kel-Tec P-3AT by any means, but if you want a sub-compact gun with 8+1 capacity of .40 (or 10+1 of 9mm), you can't go wrong with the RAMI.

Almost exactly what DDGator said. Great value, quality, workmanship, typical CZ. I suspect the trigger will "smooth out" as my PCR did, but it's not bad now. I carry with the trigger at half-cock (which is acceptable and safe with the RAMI or PCR), to lessen the takeup. My .40 RAMI replaced both my PM9 and G33 for main carry, IWB FIST Kydex holster for a G19. I also carry a P3AT in front pocket for backup (the RAMI will be just too big (heavy, thick) for most folks to use for pocket carry, IMHO).

I picked up my RAMI about 2 weeks ago and I love it! :)

It is a bit thick but it does add to the shootability of the RAMI, it makes the recoil spread more evenly across the hand and therefor easier to cope with the muzzle rise. Everything on the RAMI is well done and very smooth, almost like everything is melted together, no sharp edges or corners to worry about.

As for shooting and accuracy I just cannot say enough good things about it, tack driver is an over used statement but not in this case for me it truly is. So far I have put 500 rounds through it of Blazer and no malfunctions to report. Also The trigger has smoothed out really nicely. :)

The finish is a form of polymer which is standard on CZ pistols. I really like this finish as it has held up really well on my other CZ's. The sights are a Novak design that "glow in the dark". While not true night sights because they require a light source to "charge" them, I really like these anyways.

Overall for the $449 out the door I paid I could not be more delighted. There is nothing like getting Sig like quality at half the price. ;)

I have the 9MM RAMI and love it. I did a lot of dry firing with a snap cap and the trigger has smoothed out nicely. I have to agree that it is a little large and heavy as a true pocket pistol. However with an IWB holster it is a perfect CCW for me. I got an IWB Don Hume H715 M # 36 1# holster which is actually for a Glock 26 and the RAMI fits in it perfectly. It is a great holster for a very reasonable price. Hakan Pek, the master grip maker of Norway, made a set of Cocobolo grips for my RAMI and they make the grip feel thinner. They for sure made the RAMI a lot prettier. So if you want thinner and better looking grips for your RAMI get in contact with Hakan. His work is exquisite and his prices reasonable for the quality you receive.

Here is a picture of my RAMI with the Cocobolo grips by Hakan. My CZ P01 is the other gun in the picture so you can get an idea of the size comparison.

Best regards.

Azrael;

Talk to Hakan. I am sure that he can make you a set of grips that you will like. My son liked my RAMI Hakan grips so much that he just ordered a set for his RAMI.

Take care.

I certainly agree with Craig and Hakan is making me a pair of cocobola grips....as I write this (so to speak).

I like the .40 RAMI so much, I'm real close to getting one in 9mm :D I'm saving my money for the CZ40-P, but it if doesn't get to me dealer real soon.......

Dave;

I have not shot a RAMI in 40S&W, so I can not comment on it. However, if you really like your RAMI in 40S&W I think that you will love the RAMI in 9MM. It is a sweet shooting little pistol. The recoil is very manageable. In fact to the point that I think you could go out and shoot 400 or 500 rounds at one time without feeling beat up. I like mine so much that I am going to buy another one in 9MM as soon as I find a good deal.

Best regards.

I love my Rami. For light days, I carry a J frame.
:)

For medium days, I carry a Rami.

For heavy days, I carry a .44 magnum.

Aside from being comfortable to shoot and compact, the RAMI will accept hi cap mags from a full size CZ. If you have another CZ this is a big plus.

I bought my RAMI last week and took it out for the first time this morning. Cost NIB was $450.00 in Portland, Oregon.

I shot 100 rounds of Remington UMC 115 grain FMJ at a range of approximately 7 yards and can report that with RAMI factory mags I had no FTF, no FTE, no failure of any kind.

I also tried some other 10 round CZ mags that came with my CZ 75BD and CZ 85C. In around 20 rounds I had one instance (after shooting several rounds) of the gun failing to chamber the next round. A well placed tap took care of that but the RAMI would never stay open after the last shot was fired using those mags.

As far as accuracy is concerned the major problem is me! But I could pretty much get everything into a 5" circle at the aformentioned 7 yards. For me that's absolutely scintillating shooting. I think that the RAMI might do better and I'll find out when my son-in-law tries it out as he is a very good marksman.

IMHO the RAMI is a tad too large to function well as a pocket gun. But it sure is a "keeper" and will function as an effective CCW. Good shooting;)

Out of curiosity, what is the magazine capacity of the RAMI in 9mm and .40?
