USFA Omnipotent pistols

I am hijacking this from another thread. I am an honest thief! The Omnipotent from USFA has been around for awhile. $A$$ won't "grandfather" it in as a legal single action. I can think of many better choices for a CCW revolver. There is a mystique about the Omnipotent though. If it had a Bisley hammer, I could get interested. What do you folks think about the Omnipotent? http://www.usfirearms.com/cat/omnipotent.asp and http://www.usfirearms.com/cat/omniseries.asp and http://www.usfirearms.com/cat/snubnose.asp

I think it's one of the prettiest revolvers I've ever seen. I want one, too.
There are other cowboy games besides the SASS ones, right?

I think it looks better than the original Single Action Army, although the $1,265 price tag strikes me as a bit excessive.

Me too. Have you price a new, plane-jane Colt Single Action Army, though? About the same.

The price is MSRP. There are deals to be had. It would be nice if dealers had them on the shelves. I noticed a "deal" on Stoeger-Uberti Milleniums today for $295.00. The Omnipotent IS three times better than that.

That's about the closest I could hope to get to a NIB Colt New Frontier Six Shooter ala 1878 model. Man that's PURDY.
Stop talking about it.
Please.
Can't afford it....:cuss:
On SASS: shoot it "not for score" win on style points. I've never understood the whole we don't like double actions rule.. ok ok I know its the SINGLE action shooters society.. but they call the sport COWBOY action shooting.
IE a NEW slide action Lightning Rifle is legal, but an original 1877 Lightning revolver isn't.

Well these are SAs. USFA just took a standard SAA pattern frame and added a funky hammer, Bisley trigger and unique grip frame based loosely on the Bisley but with a birds-head back strap to create this piece.
It's no more "unauthentic" than a Ruger BisVaq and as a basic matter of fairness, should be allowed in my opinion.
I can, on the other hand, see the point in limiting things to SA wheelguns, excluding even vintage DAs like the 1877 Lightning, Starrs and similar. SASS/CAS is to a large degree about preserving and promoting certain *skills* involving controlled SA fire and cocking. Throw DAs in and those old skills go out the window.

$A$$ is old news. CAS is growing. CASA, WASA, NCOWS, $A$$ and BPCR are all CAS related organizations. There are CAS boards and many owners of original 19th century semi-autos enjoy CAS. There is room for weapons and shooters in CAS organizations. The Omnipotent is a neat package in period calibers, barrel lengths and finishes. Who cares if it is single action? IT IS COOL!! Style points indeed!!
