Box of 22lr Fed HP's ... 550 rounds .. approx sub $9 ..... that's around 1.5 cents a pop .... incredible!!!!!
I'm not complaining!! .. and I know volume production has much to do with it but hey ...... it's hard to see much profit, with the suppliers needing their cut too. Just wonder how they do it ...... cos I daresay we'd pay substantially more and still feel happy (shh ... don't tell Fed or Rem! that)
Long may it continue!:)

I buy the Rem Golden Bullets at that price at Wal-Mart all the time.
You're right--one of the best values in shooting.

It actually costs more per shot to feed my air pistol. It's good they're single shot,
keeps the cost down :)

If you the math, shooting 22's are cheaper than dry firing them.
550 rounds at wal mart - $7.88 or something under $10.
Dry firing 50 times - $30+ for part and to have gunsmith install new firing pin

Kinda like the old Saturday Night live skit about the Bank that makes change.

the farmer, "How much is the corn?"
Farmer "The more you buy, the cheaper it gets."
Man "Keep loading it until it's free."

I love the Remington Walmart ammo. I have tried all the others and IMHO it is the best. I had a ton of trouble witht he Winchester stuff.

Yeah, those 36gr. Remington Golden Bullets give the best results among all the cheapo .22 brands I have tried. Most consistent velocities and tightest groups.
I had a ton of reduced reports/low impacts with Thunderbolt bullets.
The Feds I tried were better than that, but didn't group as tight as the Remington Goldens.
The terminal performance of the Rem Golden Bullets has been pretty good, too. Those I used on varmits showed good expansion and good wound tracks.
