I either did good or I wasted a crap ton of money. But I bought 50lbs of assorted Vectan pistol powders. I bought A1, AS, BA10, BA9.5, and BA9. (I also bought 8lbs of N320 also.). I'm hoping I can find enough load data to use for these powders. Mainly planning on using them for bulk 9mm and 45acp range ammo. Stay tuned...

I always liked BA10, I think I only have 1lb of it left from before they quit importing it.

If it is as cheap as it used to be, I will be using it again.

It's not that cheap anymore. But they are 1.1lb cans so it's like buy 10 and get 1 free. At least that's how I rationalized it. :(

I'm hoping I can find enough load data to use for these powders.

I hope you can, but it seems a strange way to operate.
In the depths of the Panic, a friend was running short. I made up a list of 26 powders that I could find data on. He found two of them and bought one.

I'm hoping I can find enough load data to use for these powders. Seriously? You bought nearly 50 lbs. of powder without any reloading data?

Brave man! :D

It's not actually THAT bad. There is load data for all the powders I bought, just only a few bullet types. Vectan has a PDF download with starting load data from pretty much all common calibers here in the US. I figured for bulk range ammo, I use a garden variety bullet and very low charge weights, so it should work great for that.

I wouldn't have bought it for use in high velocity handgun or rifle loads though.

The Vectan web site shows what powders are for what and the load data is like any others, pick you caliber and powder and away you go. If I need powder I would buy it, Not crazy about stick powders in handguns though

Just pick from the chart and then the reload data.

If you stick to "start low and work up" you'll make your own data Pretty quickly.

I was in much the same boat during the panic when I first started loading pistol.
Found an 8lbs jug of red dot, knew it was quick burning simular to bullseye and that it'd work, but I might have to do a little experimenting with some cartridges. Worked out good for me. Best of luck to you!

It seems the normal way one would approach this scenario would be to try the powder, THEN buy a crap ton of it if you like it. To each his own I reckon.

I learned that little tidbit of wisdom after my 3rd marriage:)

Just kidding

I plan it. Like I said, I won't be doing any high velocity load testing though. I bought this powder to use for bulk range ammo and I tend to load that on the mild side of mild. :) But I'll be happy to share my recipes.

I am mostly shooting paper for fun so my pistol loads usually fall in the middle of the range. Why push the paper odosen't know the difference and most loads in the middle seem to shoot better for me.

Looking forward to the results.

So you said the 50lbs will last a month or so?:D

No, I expect it will last a lot longer than usual now that I'm busy with my first child.
