I was wondering if anyone makes a 9mm bobtail commander? I know there are other types of small 9 mm's, but single stacks are the only ones that really fit my hand well. Thanks.....:)

If Ed Brown doesn't offer one in that chambering...then buy the 9mm CDR of your choice and send it to a competent smith. The bobtail housing can be bought separate and installed. Don't know how much it would cost though, it requires frame and grip modification and re-finishing.

Now a LW CDR, bobtail frame and an officers slide in 9mm...that would be a heck of a carry gun!:p

Check out Dan Wesson's PT-CCO.
I know they currently chamber it in .45 and 10mm, maybe 9mm is an option, as well.

Does anyone know if Dan Wesson customizes their orders (wanted to add front strap checkering and checkering to the MSH - although I think you can buy the ed brown MSH part with checkering). :)

DW has done many a custom order for many others.

Tman,

I would avoid the DW guns. My PT-C 10mm bobtail does not work, and neither have any of the other three DWs I have had out of the box. All were fixable, but for the money the gun should run. If you are planning to tinker with the gun anway, it may not matter to you. Just be prepared for that if you buy from Dan Wesson.

Grayrider:

Good point. I had thought a lot about DWs but bought an STI Trojan 9mm about 8 months ago instead because of QC issues. Thought things were about straightened out, but because I was born with a strange affliction (10 thumbs) I will probably wait on the DW. Thanks (and much appreciated), its always most helpful to have people with first hand experience.

I am pretty much the same way, so won't be fixing this one myself. Off to the smith tomorrow with some ammo. With any luck in a week or two it will be running the way it should have. Glad I could help you out, and don't give up on the project. Sounds like a neat package you have in mind.
