Your local Wal-Mart may be dumping Buck Spitfires.

I picked up 4 of the color versions for $15 each yesterday.

I tested one today and plan on looking for more at that price.

Seems like quite a bargain.

There were reviewers that complained about various things, but I just didn't see the problems being important in the quick test I did this moring.

Lockback, aluminum handle, 420HC. Seems like an extremely solid value for that price.

Thanks for the head-up. I'll have to check mine.

I recently bought the mini Spitfire (for more than that) and I really like it.

Granted, I'm not a knife guy like some of you here but.....

The mini is a great size and weight for EDC front pocket. The handle has a good feel but may be a little small around for larger hands; not bad for me - I wear med gloves and have shortish fingers.

The blade is wider than you might think looking at the mini. It sharp... blah blah blah.

Is it perfect? Does it havethe best steel? Nope... but for the price I think its a good value.

The full size at $15 is a great value, IMO

EDIT: Using 'My Store' online, the cheapest Im seeing is $28. Dod you find the $15 price IN the store or online?

Ok.... since I'm off today and needed a couple automotive things...

Went to Wallmart... the display tag said Buck Slim Line - Lime Green $15 even.

The knife hanging from it was the grey one and the package was marked model 721 Slimline . The package did not say Spit Fire; only "721 SLIMLINE".

It kind if surprised me when the Customer Service guy asked if I needed help! Usually they ignore me.

I asked about the tag saying green but its a grey knife... is it $15? He said 'yes'. Great... I'll take it. They had only 1 left after me.

I was thinking the # should be 722 but it sure looked like the Spitfire so at $15 I bought it.

He took it out and scanned it with his portable scanner... it came up as $21 but he gave it to me at $15.

Did a little research.... Buck doesn't list the 721 on their site nor do they list Slimline either. I get "Sorry We Couldn't Find the Products Related...." to "slim line" "slimline" "721" "0721"

However, I found a Buck Knives web page cached on 07-31-2015 at

Interestingly, the cached page at Buck Knives has it marked down from $50 to $20.

These must be older units before they went to the Spitfire name.

Now...on to the dating of it.

I happen to find that Buck Knives dating chart posted a few days ago while researching this today. Its at

According to the chart, the Mini Spitfire I bought a couple months ago (at a good price but I cant remember $20 ish ?) is a 2014 knife.

This SLIMLINE/Spitfire from Wally today is a 2013 knife.

Again, These must be older units before they went to the Spitfire name.

Yay me!

Thanks hso!

Now I have both the Mini and Bigger models and muh to the liking of my mild OCD, they are both grey; both non-serrated. (I do like the orange and green though)

Thank again hso.

Yep, its the 721. Amusing that they let the grey go for $15.

There are several hate reviews out there, but the one I opened and tried has no significant issues if you're buying the knife at $15 instead of $30. It cut well, survived a spine whack and spine pressure test and seems to be a handy compact folder. It ain't a ... but it is good for the money.

We did our big shopping today so I looked at knives in WM and there wasn't much there, some Gerbers and Kershaws but no Bucks.

The Buck stayed clipped in the pocket of my river shorts for 4 wet days without any apparent damage. It never came loose through short jet ski trips or wading or working in the lake.

Just saw this thread yesterday so I stopped by the 3 closest WalMarts to me today trying to see if I could still find any of these. Alas, no dice.

However, on my third WalMart I did see that they had a sale on the Buck 110. I snagged it for $28. It beats even Amazon by $10. What a piece of craftsmanship for under $30. Couldn't be happier. My only regret is that I didn't snag the second one in the case for that price!
