(Sumter) April 24, 2004 - Officials say Samuel Brunson, 68, shot one of his customers at the Sumter County Flea Market on Highway 378 around 9:30am Saturday.

Officials say Bruns shot the customer once in the chest and again in the side.

Investigators say Marvin Robinson bought a TV from Brunson last week and tried to return in Saturday because it was not working.

Police say the two got into an argument and that's when Brunson pulled out a gun, shooting Robinson twice.

Brunson rented two tables at the flea market. He sold everything from color televisions to law mowers.

James Young rents a space five booths from where the shooting happened. He was there when the shooting happened, "I never though something like this would happen. You know all of us are friends, just like family here. He was a nice guy. I communicated with him, and the rest of us. I never knew, thought something like this would happen here."

It's a shooting Young calls unfortunate, "All of this started over a TV, that's it, senseless."

Marvin Robinson, the customer, is in critical condition. Authorities have charged Brunson with assault and battery with intent to kill.

Sumter County Sheriff's Department says Brunson has a criminal record. In New York he was sentenced to five years for shooting someone.

No offense to anyone that loves flea markets, but those places are pretty sketchy sometimes.

Sounds like this guy needs a little more than 5 years in the cooler this time.

Another parole and probation poster boy in action.

And I thought that law about Felons not being allowed to have guns would have prevented this. ;)

Your statement could be used against us if it turns out the vendor bought his gun from a private seller.

My statement shows that criminals have no respect for gun laws, so what good do the laws do but to hinder law-abiding citizens.

The problem is, I suspect CCW will be banned from the flea market. If a legal CCW had been on the spot, the bad guy may have been dealt with once and for all. A grand example of a rehabilated felon.
