Bulk shells.

I've been reading a couple of posts using the search function and I seem to find that most people don't hold the Walmart Federal bulk packed 12 gauge shells in very high regard.
Is this true?
I'm planning on purchasing a couple hundred rounds of 12 gauge ammo this week, and feel bad passing up $15/100 boxes of shotshells.

Each shotgun has its own pecularities as to what works best in it. The Fed Valupacks are well made, and possibly the best of the generics.
With generic ammo, cost is reduced by using a hull that is not as durable as the premium stuff. IOW, it'll shoot fine but it's not good for reloading. Cost is also reduced by using soft shot, and Federal seems to use harder shot than the others.
IMO, the valupacks are good value.

Can't add much to what Dave said, but I can get about 5-7 reloads out of the Federal shells and about 13-17 out of AA and Premier Remingtons. Granted they look a bit ragged after this many reloads, but when pennys count it makes it worth it. When I feel it's their last reload I generaly use an auto or pump gun to shoot them in and leave them lay.

I've never had any problems with the Federal or Winchester Value packs. Went bang everytime and went where I aimed everytime, but my aim isn't always on target ;)

Okay guys, sounds good to me. I wasn't/am not planning on reloading them anyway, so they sound like they're perfect.

I use the Fed value packs too. Never had a problem. I like them better then the Wins.
