I have one and I absolutely love it. I don't have the alloy frame though. The moonclips are a little flimsy but they're a lot easier to load and unload than the Smith 625 moonclips. I've had ZERO problems with mine.

I have owned the 41 Mag, 45 Colt, 357 Mag, and 45 ACP in the 2" compact frame from Taurus. I have owned the 45 Colt, 357 Mag, and 45 ACP in the 4" Tracker. I have tried Ultralite, Total Ti, and Stainless, and my absolute favorites are the two Stainless 45 ACP's. They are sturdy, handy, and powerful enough to get almost any job done if I do my part. The stellar clips make reloading fast, and you can use the gun without them in a real pinch. Ammo is available almost everywhere, and some of it is inexpensive.

The only problem I have encountered with the 45 ACP's is that if I hold the handgun in a 45 degree barrel up angle, Winchester ammo (which appears to have a thicker base) will sometimes cause a "hestitation" in the cycle. This is much more pronounced in the 4" than it is in the 2", for whatever reason. So I use Federal, S&B, UMC, PMC, Remington, or CorBon, and I do not have a problem.

The only thing I might like better is the 44 Mag in a Tracker they are showing as coming this summer on the Taurus Website. That one would shoot 44 Specials, Hot 44 Specials, or Real 44 Mags, just like my Winchester Lever Action Trapper 44 Mag. A Trapper and a Tracker that use the same ammo...

I haven't had the problems that 45+ has had with Winchester ammo. I shoot the Winchester white box FMJ value box quite a bit. I wonder if I got lucky or 45+ got unlucky.

Ducktapehero - I am delighted to hear that you have no issues with Winchester White Box. I do not feel "unlucky", as there are often issues with a particular gun/ammo combination, even in revolvers. That is why I do not carry a particular ammo until I have put a couple of hundred rounds through the gun testing for such incompatibilites. I really like my T455's, and that is a problem that it is easy to live with.

The only problem I've heard of is a very minor one. They won't chamber .45 Auto Rim cartridges. Chambers are too close together.

big bore snubbies........;)
those .44spl and .45colt/acp, and 41mags...5 shooters are good usefull and often over looked "belly guns"

while some are on the verge of being full sized like some of the s&w models.........the tauri have maintained that honored possition made infamous by the "son of sam" c.a. bulldog.

i really like .44spl snubbies... i dont know why, cant quite nail it down, but 5 no jam rounds of big bore 200gr. or better ammo is a sweet feeling for a bug/second gun.

I have a 4" Tracker and my only complaint is that it won't take Autorims. The trigger continues to improve. Two thumbs up.

Does Taurus make the .45acp tracker without the porting? That's about the only thing that keeps me looking at a 625 instead of one.

The current online catalog for Taurus shows a non-ported, Ti, 4", with fixed sights. I had heard that they are producing the 45 ACP and 45 Colt this way for a field gun. Below is a link for the 45 ACP model and it shows as available. I have found this info to be accurate except the retail price is usually WAY high.

I shot a .357 tracker, and wasn't a big fan of the grips. I thought they were kind of uncomfortable.
