I think this is interesting.

Any comments on this one? It seems like it would be an interesting one to own and shoot.
An 8 shot 30 carbine DA rates pretty high on the cool factor and I have had great luck with Taurus revolvers but I would still like to hear from anyone with first hand experience.

The .30 Carbine hasn't got a terrific reputation even in the rifle form. Ruger and S&W tried to make handguns for it, but the report is awfully cruel to one's ears, and Ruger probably hasn't sold too many of their Blackhawks in that caliber.

My 30 Blackhawk is an incredibly fun gun to shoot.
Probrably not real practical, but the fun factor definately makes up for it. Out of the raging bull there would be almost zero recoil, a pretty good bark, and it should have great accuracy. It doesn't look ported, that's a plus for this round.
Something to consider you can often find used 30 blackhawks in the $250-300 range.

A Blackhawk in 30 carbine is high on my wish list. Checked out the Taurus, SRP of $898 makes that $300 Blackhawk look even better!

Wow thanks, maybe the blackhawk would be a
more logical choice. At least it will let me know
how I like a 30 carbine revolver before I spend 800 bucks.

Lots of companies have tried it. IIRC, even the SiG 220 was originally chambered for the 30 as well as 9mm, 38 Super and 45acp.

The comments made concerning the .30 Carbine's "bark" when rifle cartridges are used in a revolver are entirely correct, and ear protection is a must. That said, if you reload the round for use in a handgun the noise level is much better, and yes - it is fun too shoot. Rate it as a "super" 32-20.

I've rented one once. Didn't do much for me. For kicks n' grins, there are other calibers I shoot and enjoy.
