I have read a lot about Rugers in .45 Colt that have undersized chamber mouths in the cylinders ect.
I bought a Blackhawk years ago with a cylinder that split cases on factory loads.
How many of you guys have had trouble with Ruger .45 Colt single actions?
How many got one that was OK to start?

Generally speaking seems more accurate with the "potent" loads

In fact, I have never had a problem or complaint with any of my Ruger's in any caliber:

One SP-101
Three Vaquero's in .45LC
Three SBH's
one 22/45
one MKII
One Mini-14

I have a Ruger Bisley in .45 Colt. I concur with 45Hoop. Mine is very accurate indeed and the harder you push it, the more accurate it seems. It loves 300 gr cast SWC's with lots of H110 powder and mag primers.

It is more accurate than my .44 mag Redhawk, more than my old 3-screw .357 blackhawk and equal to my GP100 .357.

Go to the phone immediately and contact Ruger. That is bad at best and down right dangerous at worst depending on just how oversized the chamber is.

Seriously, it needs to go back to the manufacturer for a new cylinder. Or you could look around gunbroker for a replacement. I, personally, wouldn't shoot it.

No problems with mine,most accurate revolver i own.It's a NM blackhawk with a 7.5" barrel.

I've owned numerous Rugers over the years, and have never had a problem with any of them. My .45 Blackhawk is built like a tank, and is extremely accurate.

Been in service since 1971 with nary a problem to date. The two BISLEY BLACKHAWK 45COLT revolvers have not served up problem one since 1985 for the blue version and 1999 [ 2000? ] for the stainless steel version. The latter pistol is shot every week and ain't been cleaned since the day I got it, wiped out the factory goop, and took it shooting.

Another vote for the Blackhawk in .45 Colt. Accurate with hot loads with 300-grain JHPs...

I got 2 Vaqueros and a Redhawk in 45 Colt. I do only use rather hot loads (way beyond SAAMI 45 Colt Specs) in all of them and never had a problem.

I bought a BH 45 Colt Convertible in 45 Colt/ACP years ago, and it turned out the 45 ACP cylinder was not the correct one for the gun. It probably got swithched with the one next to it in the display case. The serial number did not match. I did not discover this for several years but then I sent it back to Ruger and they fixed and returned in about six weeks, no charge. That was the only problem with that one.

I traded it later for a shorter bbl convertible, and I have never had a hiccup out of that one either.

I also have a convertible blackhawk in .45 Colt/ACP. I love it. I did get the cylinder throats reamed out by Cas at www.cylindersmith.com. He did a really great job and it helped improve accuracy AND allow me to chamber some 300 gr. + bullets. The next steps for my gun are a Belt Mountain base pin, a Wolff extra string base pin latch spring and some Eagle Grips Gunfighter grips.

My only regret is buying a gun that was so expensive to feed (.45 Colt) as my first handgun...the .45 ACP makes for inexpensive plinking though!

My Vaquero is so tight (not short) that 300 grain loads will not chamber.

My Blackhawk was made in 1976. I planned to have the throats worked on, but shot it first -- no need for any accuracy tuning in THIS gun!

The throats are a bit tighter than in my Colt New Service, but both shoot as well as I can.
