Some members might remember this case, where a pot suspect was shotgunned by police at his home, last September. Was discussed extensively on TFL legal/political forum at the time...

Two recent developments:

1. A grand jury declined to indict anyone in this case. Either the Sheriff's Emergency Services Unit, or the other residents of the house that was raided. They heard over 60 witnesses, in 6 days of hearings, so they were thorough, if nothing else.

2. The sheriff has disbanded the Emergency Services Unit, and the Commander has been disciplined for neglect of duty, dishonesty, and malfeasance on the job (said to be unrelated to this specific case, however). Stories here: http://www.activedayton.com/news/story3.html

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Other aspects related to the case are ongoing. Helriggle's family considering asking the FBI for a civil rights violation (little chance of that, IMO). Also the possibility of a civil suit.
