Lead prices up?

I made an order at West Coast Bullets today for 1000 158 gr .38 RN. The price is $56 with delivery included. I was then told that there is a 'surcharge' of $4.60 due to a blip in the prices of lead and copper. Indications are that the surcharge is a temporary add on until prices come back down.

Anyone else run into this?

Went to buy some shot the other day, owner had none, told me there was a shortage and even Remington couldn't get enough to keep up with production and their commitments.

Tried some online companies, the shot they had was limited....they might have some #4 or 000, none of the more common 00 or 7.

Hit the gun show....no shot there either...but bullets were in large supply and price seemed normal.

I just bought 350 pounds of wheelweights from a local scrap dealer for 22 cents per pound. Considering that wheelweights sold for 35 cents per pound here 10 years ago, that seemed pretty good.

If bullets are too expensive, the answer is simple. Cast your own.
