Ive been toying with the idea of getting a .44mag for years now and after watching Dirty Harry a few nights ago ive decided i want one.It wont be shot much and the EAA Bounty hunter looks to be in my price range.A S&W or Taurus would be nice as they are double action, but the real world price is more than im willing to spend.I enjoy my EAA Windicators and im betting the Bounty hunters are just as well built.Anyone actually have first hand experience?

Greeting's Tropical Z My Friend-
Not quite sure about the .44 magnum "Bounty Hunter",
but I sure as heck like my 5" barrel S&W 629 Classic.
It is one fine handgun; but I can truly understand
finanical limitations! :uhoh: :( :D
Best Wishes,

They are pretty good. The ejector rod assembly is the only negative. They often break and fall off. I am unaware of any fixes other than buying spares. They are oversized like Rugers and use the Ruger transfer bar system under license. Tough, available in gold and nickel plate, 44 Magnum and as overbuilt as Ruger. What is there NOT to like?

I like those Ruger 44 mag revolvers, they are tough as nails!

I can only tell you about the bounty hunter 22/22mag I purchased, it was the
poorest quality of any pistol I have own in 50 years. Perhaps I happen to
get that weeks lemon.:(

Wingman, they were bad in 22/22 Magnum. They no longer import them. There has been a rumour that the 357 Magnum frame was going to be developed into a 6 shot, full sized frame 22/22 Magnum. None have been imported though if they were made.

A 629 would be great but its a little too $$$ for my budget.Ill have to investigate who has Taurus and Ruger and EAA's in stock and at least compare the price before i buy.Firestorm has that "Commanche" in .44mag but i dont think id trust it to hold up for long.

Had a .357 Bounty Hunter for a few years but sold it. Not a bad pistol for the money. In the long run you might be happier with a used Ruger Super Blackhawk. The Ruger is top quality and darn near indestructible. -- Kernel

Z-Man, I do appreciate your firearm frugality and the dance you do to the drummer only you can hear. And here comes the expected -- HOWEVER -- a used Ruger, even one that might have been ridden hard and put awy wet -- would probably be better buy, and you'd get more tacticallity points this way.
And, for Skunk's sake, we all hope he gains sufficient tactically points so at some gun show, to win a night with Ms. Hi-Point in the Kevlar Suite of the Vegas Excalibur Hotel and Casino.
Oh, and we'll need a complete range report from that session, including any head-spacing using a GO/NO-GO gauge, failures to feed, failures to go directly into battery, any negligent discharges, hang fires, failure to eject and, of course, squib loads and bllown primers.
See,Zee, we really are on your side.:D

I bought my latest slightly-used Ruger Redhawk (.44Mag 5 1/2" barrel) at a local gun show for $350 out-the-door. Dunno if this is an average price (or higher or lower) , and YMMV.

I bought a Bounty Hunter in .45 Colt about a year ago. It's a little loose but it looks pretty good and shoots just dandy. I carry it as a sidearm while hunting- it's lighter than either of my .44 mag S&Ws.
That said, I'd look for a used Ruger Super Blackhawk if I was in the market for a single action .44 mag.
