Okay that was badass. I'm impressed.

I was just in the local chain-store coffee shop satisfying an urge for a blended mocha -- with raspberry syrup thank you very much.

Two Santa Monica Police Officers were in line with me. Both wore low-ride holsters over black BDU pants. But that's not the badass part. One officer carried an HK. But THAT's not the badass part. His partner was carrying a stainless 1911 -- a Springfield I think. In a Department where most of the Officers carry either glocks or HK's a stainless 1911 says to me, here is a cop who is willing to train with his firearm. He knows his technique, he's unique, and may actually be a Connoisseur. Now THAT's badass.

Just had to share. Thanks.

the guy with the HK, was it a USP expert, black hair, glasses, kinda light olive complexion? If so I took the CT handgun combat master class with him, and we WAS good.

Not certain what he looked like. The gun looked like a compact HK. But the officer's face eluded me. My attention was divided between the two firearms and that homeless-looking guy in line behind me in the blue zippered sweatshirt and short graying hair with a droopy bottom lip and a bad slouch. He happened to be standing a little too close for comfort thus he required my attention.

Some of the folks on the 3rd street promenade get "interesting".

Dang Amadeus,

That was me in the blue sweatshirt! Sorry I was so close, but I was drooling over the stainless wilson mags on his belt. Raspberry mocha?! Try their coco cola coffee. It's perfect to mix this cheap rotgut in.

Braz! That was YOU? No offense but could you please maybe take a shower? And if you're gonna pay for anything with the nickels and pennies that you collected from passing tourists -- why's it gotta be a stale bran muffin? How about a few Wilson mags of your own? :)

Anyhoo -- it's good to see a cop packing something different and worth mentioning.

Either that, or he's an empty showboat. <shrug> Can't tell just by what he's carrying.

Good point, Quartus. --- Suurrrrre. Ruin my moment of hope. You wanna tell me there's no tooth fairy too?

At least he's not afraid to be a little different.

Uh, you'll have to talk to your Mom about that. :neener:

:D

Sometimes 'not afraid to be different' means he's his own man, sometimes it means he likes attention. Cops are funny people - good and bad, wonderful people and disgusting scum, phonies and the real deal.

In other words, a mixed bag, like any other group.
