Question on SIG maintenance

Recently got a new SIG P228 and kick myself for not getting into SIGs earilier, so many guns , not enough time or money.
Question for those that have long term experience with SIGs with stamped and welded slides: Is the roll pin that holds in the breech a problem, does it drift out over time? Also any other areas of concern to look out for.
I would expect the SIGs to be robust over time as they seem to be used by many Federal agencies , the military and a large number of state police, but they all have in- house armorers.

If installed properly you shouldn't have any problems with the roll pin drifting out of place. I've seen SIG stamped slides with thousands of rounds through with them without a single hitch. Just make sure to use a rust inhibitor like CLP and a quality lube and you'll get years of reliable use.

So far, the only SIG I own that is starting to show some drift is a P220 with many thousands of rounds through it. I simply tap it back in with a punch and hammer. No probs. Just remember to keep an eye on it occasionally. SIGARMS suggests replacing the roll-pins every few thousand rounds....of course, they charge an arm and a leg for this service.

Same results here. No problems with my rolled pin P226, it tends to walk out in my rolled pin P220. I just tap them back when it does it.

I've had a P220 (Browning BDA) for over twenty years and have put tens of thousands of rounds through it. I remember tapping the roll-pin in about 7-8 years ago and that was it.

SIG Arms charges $40 to replace all worn springs and internals, that includes new roll pins and recoil spring. They also pay return shipping. If the pin should drift as a result of a quality issue they'll repair the pistol for free.
You also replace the roll pins yourself but remember big pin 12 o'clock and little pin 6 o'clock.

The pins are not designed to be returned to use, but replaced with new pins each and every time. I see them walk out, most often on 226 types.

Ron, haven't had any problems with roll pins, or anything else on a Sig. Clean and oil them, shoot them! Don't worry about them, as good as anything mechanical gets.

same experience as the rest...mine with a 226 and 220...if they drift, push them back in...if it bothers you enough, have them replaced. i actually prefer the stamped slide to the SS ones, just a personal preference.
the 220 is harder on the pins...on the mags too

Wipe down regularly, replace pins if they get lost, enjoy.
