Need help in deciding!

I've decided on getting the Kimber Compact II Stainless.
It comes two ways. All Stainless or Aluminum Frame.
Aluminum is a lot lighter and would seem better for carry (which I'm looking for) but the all Stainless seems like it would shoot better (with recoil and all) and just seems like it would hold up better in the long run. I plan to shot it a lot too.
I can't decide which way to go. Those of you that have the Compact... is the all stainless one fine for carry or would you go aluminum?
Too many choices...

Even tho the friends I have that shoot aluminum framed 1911's have had no problems & they shoot them quite often, I still prefer the all steel 1911. It's more a subjective preference :D

I faced this same choice. The advantage to aluminum obviously is lighter weight for carry. That said, it is my opinion that the life expectancy for aluminum is less than steel. The basis of my decision was that I wanted a gun that I could shoot and shoot without worry that I was rushing it toward the end of it's useful life. I wanted to shoot the fire out of this gun and still have a decent weapon that I could pass on someday to one of my kids. So, I chose a steel-framed Compact SS. It is my primary carry gun. I don't mind the weight and I have absolutely no regret about my choice.

I do believe that a decent belt and hoslter makes a significant difference when carrying a steel-framed gun. I used to carry the Compact in a Galco Royal Guard. I finally broke down and bought a Milt Sparks VM 2. The gun still weighs the same but it feels a lot more comfortable in the VM 2.

I have 3000 rounds through my Compact with no problems. It's a great gun and I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you decide.

I have the all stainless that I carry in a Milt Sparks Summer Special (IWB) holster. I find the weight not to be a factor at all. I also find the extra weight to be advantagous when trying to shoot quick repeat shots.

I understand the aluminum framed guns may have a slightly shorter life but I doubt if that would be a problem for a long time. I have heard that some of them develop a rough feed ramp when shooting a lot of sharp lipped hollowpoints. Never seen one-just heard.

Good choice in guns. Pick either and you are well 'heeled'. Good luck.
