How good are their autos? Wal-Mart has one for $300 that my son wants.

Have never shot one. I would buy a used 870 for him instead. You can pick one up for less than $200. I bought a used Wingmaster for $175 in great shape and plan to give it to my son.

I had a Charles Daly side-by-side field hunter model. The action always stayed tight and it never loosened up. I worked it back and forth quite a bit but it just wouldn't ease up.
Other than that, it was a good shotgun. Bagged a couple of pheasants.

Never shot one... Handled a few when they first came to market. They seemed to be well made and if I needed another auto, I wouldn't rule one out. But I guess I'm a Remington guy deep down. Have a 11-87 and a couple 870s. And I've owned a few more of each in the past but such things come and go...

I still have my 1100 but sold my 870 to finance a SKB O/U.
I never handled a Charles Daly auto.
