Mini-14 rear sight

I want a new rear sight for my Mini-14 Ranch. I have a 3x9x40mm scope for it, but that's way too much scope for such a little gun. I want to use the irons more, since I just shoot out to 100 yards or 200 yards. The rear Ranch sight is ok for a back up to a scope... but the little screws adjustment screws are rusted (I have no idea why), and so the sight slides in and out of zero. I have to keep the sight folded to keep it from breaking off. It isn't a good dedicated rear sight. I want something sturdier, and I was thinking about the XS rear ghost ring. Has anyone tried it? Anyone try any other kind of rear sight- Millet or other? Remember, this is a 3 MOA rifle, so I don't want the super-precise Williams aperature sights. Would the ghost ring sight reduce my accuracy?

I'm going to put an M1 Carbine rear sight on mine.

From what I hear..... all you gotta do is file a little.

Hey natedog I put an M1 rear sight on my ranch recently. Filing is done to the M1 sight and not the rifle so you dont mess anything up, You will still be able to mount your scope also. Check out the Perfect union BBS site, lots of good info for Mini 14 owners, and good group. New here and not sure how to post a link, but should be able to do a search and pull it up. If I can help. let me know !! BTW, I'm Yotesbane over there. :)

Does anyone have a picture of the M1 Carbine sights on a Mini 14?

I am going to do it to two of mine just as back up sights.

The one from www.accurysystemsinc.com costs more ($60) than an M-1 Carbine sight from Numrich, but it's already been Dremeled to fit. I think I'm going to go for it. I don't have a Dremel, so I'm going to get the $60 one.

I paid 35.00 for mine and did it with files. Take a look at www.perfectunion.com. Some guys had issues with the ASI sight, just FYI

Actually I'm real fond of the Williams Guide Sight on mine. For the price I wouldn't mess around with anything I had to modify to fit.
