I DONT NEED ANOTHER GUN OF ANY TYPE ESPECIALLY A .44 spl!BUT I was in the good local store and saw a consignment Ruger Blackhawk 45/8" stainless .44 spl. on display for $250. The store said 'oh yeah Ruger made these a few years ago' I kept my mouth shut as I examined the Bowen rear sight , the blued with inlaid gold bars Keith style front sight and the glorious trigger and action . I took out cylinder and found chamber numbers and a custom forcing cone and a special barrel crown. Has .44 SPEC. stamped perfectly on small matted box on frame.' Yup factory all right look at the warning legend on barrel ', gun store salesman said. 'Well it looks a little used on those black plastic(micarta!) grips , but I'll take it' says I. I have a 3rd. Model 4" .44 Spec.S&W hand ejector that I have lots of loads of 250hard cast kieths under enough unique to make 900fps in 4" barrel made up. I made 500 rounds and only shot 200 thru the pristine S&W because it has FACTORY PEARL GRIPS! So now I is in .44spec. heaven again!:D

When you get tired of looking at that butchered-up monstrosity, let me know. I'd be willing to go $265 AND pay shipping.

I don't think that I could have contained myself long enough to make the deal. Who says there are no gun bargains in CA?

Many, many, many threads onthe forums aboutthe trials and tribulations of dealing with ignorant, uninformed gun shop employees....like everything else in nature, they DO have a place and you found one in his prime. Payback can be pure joy :neener:

Wait a minute...

Was this thing worked over by Hamilton Bowen?

If that's the case, you got one HELL of a STEAL, not a deal, but a STEAL.

I took my .44 Spec to range and it is the most accurate sporting revolver I own! It shot inch and a half(I was on that day) group at 25yds from sand bag rest with my old favorite 240 Sierra 9.5 grain Unique load. It did 2" with Corbon 165grain load. I bothered Hamiton Bowen and yes he did simple conversion to .44Spec. ,Trigger and action job and sights "not a custom gun" . My Magnaport custom Bisley .44 wont do as good , My pre Mod 29 8 3/8" won't do as good, my 629-2 Mountain gun won't . My 3rd Mod. Hand ejector certainly won't either. I am one happy fellar. BTW my Old Lawerence "Keith #120" holster for my long gone .357 Ruger old model fits it perfectly and I can leave the stainless in leather for a while!:D :D
