I don't know that much about scopes so would a Savage 10FP be a good match with a Nikon Monarch 6x42 for punching paper at 100 and 200 yards as a nice and easy setup?

I don't own any Nikon scopes, so I can't really comment on how'd they do or not. I don't really see why it wouldn't work...

Depending slightly on your caliber and much more on fun practice, a six power scope could serve you well beyond 200 yards.

Nikon scopes are regarded as being very nice. I don't have any personal experience with them, and never heard of the "Monarch".

If that is what you have I see no reason you would not have fun with it. At the very least, you will learn what you may want to upgrade to in the future. I good experience IMO.

Nikon Monarch scopes are of excellent quality.

If you do a search you'll find only good comments posted. Nikon's optics are as good as, or I believe superior to many scopes priced considerably higher. Their warranty is on par with anyone else in the optics industry. I have a couple of 6.5-20X44 Monarchs and will if the need arises not hesitate to purchase another.
The scope you've selected should certainly serve you well.
