I've now 'needed' a gun twice in my life.

Though thankfully not in use against a person.

Today was the 2nd time I've need to use a gun, this time I found .30-06 terminal performance against a rattlesnake is awesome. I sure as hell wasn't about to get close enough to pick it up with a stick or stab it, those teenager snakes dump their FULL load of venom! 3 yards. People may not get knocked back, but that snake flew 10 feet!

First time was not even as exciting. I was demolishing a shed on my property, and all that remainded supproting the celing were rusty 3/4" steel support rods.

Well, what can defeat those rods, (cutting torch, sawzall?) withought me being next to the damn thing in case it collapses? Answer: again, a .30-06! One shot, and BAM/CLANG. Rod snaped clean in half <zoikes!>.

Stood off at about 40-50 yards, and knocked them apart one by one with my red dot.

I'm begining to like this gun.

What rifle is that? Looks like a Remington, but the detachable throws me.

:D My Dad always said," the right tool makes any job easy" I think you chose well.

Looks like a 7600 with 10rd mags?

That would be my guess, too. A tacticalicious Rem7400.

Give us the scoop, antheard. What's the action, barrel and magazines?

I too am interested in the details. I have a 7400 I have used for absolutley nothing. That looks like it may be a good makeover for it.

It's a Remington 7400 allright. Semi-automatic. (Ramline 10 round mags. Fairly happy with them after I polished the feed lips. Could use better springs. Good 10 rounders are VERY hard to find.) Also, the 7400's mag release and retention mechanism aren't the best, they place the mag under stress and if loaded/unloaded a few thousand times, start to errode the mag's metal retainer. Had one FTF (Fail to Feed) from this with an Eagle 10-round mag.

Major mod is the recoil combensator/stabalizer. Turns a 4-6MOA gun into a 2-3MOA gun that's easier to shoot to boot. 18" bbl on mine. This pic is of a 22" chromed gun. http://www.accuracysystemsinc.com/img/h_complete.jpg

Wish the PRK would 'allow' me that stock. Then again, I'd get an AR-10 if they allowed PGs.

It's by these guys: http://www.accuracysystemsinc.com/cust_remington_7400.html

They now have some ultra-cool full barrel conversions, *guarenteeing* SUB-moa!

I may send my gun back in.

If I can find decent 10 round mags, I definately WILL send it in!

The action on my rifle has proven very very reliable. Mags caused most stopages I have had, and I've fired over 500 rounds in one sitting now with no cleaning at all, no malfunctions, in a dusty environment (TW-25B teflon spray lubricant. This is a dry-lube. Fantastic stuff.)

Have had a few FTEs with questionable .30-06 (old crap loaded lighter for Garands) This is one tough semi-auto that actually LIKES heavy, hot loads. Eats up Horandy Light Magnums for example.

Easy to hit accurately, quickly, and very hard to 500+yds with just a red dot. What more could I ask for in a rifle? (oh yeah, sub-moa, and good 10-rounders! maybe soon :)

Would you mind listing a website that I can look at the mods? And possibly a lil more on the stabilizer?

Thanks I may look into this as opposed to a new MBR. Who knows? Too many choices in life and too little time

*** Wow skimmed over your link. Is the recoil reducer by them as well?***

*** Found the reducer. Won't save much if any working on this rifle as opposed to a new one. Ohh the choices...****

***I'm going to edit this post to death:D Noticed the company is in Aurora I'm moving to Denver for the summer. The 7400 just earned a what if trip to the mountains***

These use the same stocks as Remington scatterguns?

May 9, 2004, 06:00 PM
YOWEEEE!! I've never felt THAT way about a Remington before!

I think we need a new smilie to convey "lust".

May 9, 2004, 08:41 PM
I guess they don't fit the 7600 (pump action), do they?

May 9, 2004, 11:40 PM
WOWZERS That is gun porn if I ever saw it. Nice gun, that is very tactical.

May 10, 2004, 02:20 AM
That chromed one is REAL nice. :what:

More of mine. I now like the gun better with the red-dot.

Those sub-moa barrels may make me reconsider the scoped/bipod setup however :)
