I played it a few weeks ago. It's kind of funny they make it seem like every single person has a gun in their locker or backpack. I like the kid has like an AK stashed in his locker. What's really sad is people think that their kids actually are presented with all these "dangers". lol These are the same people that go into the mall and leave their 1 year old in the car with the windows up, the same people who scream about crime being so high because their purse got stolen out of the front seat of their car when the windows were all down and they were out shopping, or complain that drugs are killing their kids as they pop pain pills and uppers and guzzle alcohal. hypocrits and fools to the last. :cuss:

Front sight, press, Clarence!

Get him home safely? Send the lad to Thunder Ranch, of course. He's just a boy, teach him! Get trained up!:D

Are they coming out with a swimming pool or traffic version?

We, in the gun culture, teach children to overcome and deal with hazards, not run away crying for mommy like a HCI member. Of course guns are dangerous, they are weapons. Training and education will render children safe, not HCI emotional fear and whining.

The responses to "wrong" answers are un-[bleep]ing-believable.

WRONG! A GUN IS NEVER THE ANSWER TO A PROBLEM! Juan and Clarence could shoot themselves or someone else accidentally. Juan or Clarence never thought that MAYBE the bully could have a gun and use it just because he is frightened by Juan’s gun. A GUN ONLY MAKES THIS PROBLEM WORSE!! NEVER HANDLE A GUN!!

WRONG! GUNS ARE NOT COOL. PEOPLE WHO PLAY WITH GUNS ARE NOT BEING COOL-THEY’RE BEING STUPID. They could hurt themselves, each other and anyone else who gets in the way. A policeman shows up and asks the kids what they’re doing. He takes all the kids to the police station, calls their parents to pick them up. Clarence is grounded for TWO weeks with no t.v.

Hell, even some of the "right" answers are ridiculous.

RIGHT! NEVER PLAY WITH GUNS AND DON’T PLAY WITH KIDS WHO DO! Guns are not toys!! Clarence and Yung leave the ball field and find a policeman who confronts the other kids and takes the gun from them.

GOOD JOB!!!! NEVER PICK UP OR PLAY WITH A GUN!!! A GUN IS NOT A TOY!!!!! If you or a friend find a gun, do not touch it! Leave the area immediately and go find an adult to tell them about the gun. Clarence and Michelle find a security officer and show him the gun. He praises them and gives them a coupon for ice cream.

REMEMBER-GUNS CAN HURT YOU AND OTHERS.

Yeah, that's the point. :banghead:

In the gun in the locker one what they don't show you in the "correct" answer is the police invading the boy's home ransacking it and taking his parents off to jail.

I suffered through the first part.

As far as I can tell, they are only saying that kids shouldn't play with guns. That bringing a gun to school to confront a bully with is probably a bad idea. I agree.

It's their own Eddie Ealge program

I agree as well. But, the game clearly is intended to be played by PARENTS and the overriding theme that weapons lurk around every corner waiting to victimize innocent children is NOT an accident.

CORRECT! LEAVE THE AREA AND FIND AN ADULT. NEVER, NEVER PICK UP A GUN - IT MIGHT BE LOADED. A GUN IS NOT A TOY! Clarence and Robert find Uncle William and say "You should always lock up your gun! Lock and keep the bullets separate form the gun, too."

Should I help correct their lousy editing?

Kind of impressive how the guns in this are the size of VW Beetles. I could have sworn that was meant to be a handgun, not some kind of howitzer.

Anyhooo..... worse than this, I was working on a UK Police training video last year, one of those same sort of "option A, option B option C" things.

The final scenario was a drugged-up chap wielding what looked like a gun. Options, IIRC, were Pepper Gas, Calling in SO19 (kind of like a SWAT team which runs on tea and doesn't say "hut"), or shooting the bloke yourself.

Pepper gas got you shot. (And, mysteriously, involved an explanation of your psychological trauma, leaving the force and your partner leaving you)

Shooting him yourself magically transformed the guy's gun into a novelty cigarette . (And, mysteriously, involved an explanation of your psychological trauma, leaving the force and your partner leaving you.)

I may not know a lot about law enforcement, but I do know quite a lot about information transfer and communications. This is every bit as blatant an example of Garbage In, Garbage Out. Once again I lament that The Peepul actually seem to listen to these idiots because they're part of the gubblemint, or whatever it's called.

Criminy. Early afternoon and already I feel the urge for a still G'n'T...

I wish I found guns all over the place like that.

It almost seems to me that the message is: "Minorities shouldn't have guns"

Oh well, I'll be good now.

Drug use, too, with this picture:

Juan or Clarence never thought that MAYBE the bully could have a gun and use it just because he is frightened by Juan’s gun. A GUN ONLY MAKES THIS PROBLEM WORSE!! NEVER HANDLE A GUN!!
I love the parallel to CCW arguments here. A few subtle changes here and there could have made it a safety issue. As it stands, it's propaganda giving young minds the impression that guns can never be a tool to solve a problem (not even a violent attacker, lack of meat, or boredom! ), it's impossible to handle a firearm safely without serious danger of putting a bullet in yourself or a friend, and having a gun for your own defense will just piss off the criminal and make him shoot you. And finally, NEVER HANDLE A GUN! Run away little Juan and Clarence! When an adult offers to teach you gun safety and the reality and responsibility of firearm ownership, stick your fingers in your ears and scream "NYAH NYAH NYAH NYAH" until they go away to make another donation to the NRA.
WRONG! GUNS ARE NOT COOL. PEOPLE WHO PLAY WITH GUNS ARE NOT BEING COOL-THEY’RE BEING STUPID.
Again, it could have been, "No. Anybody who is irresponsible with firearms and treats them like toys is being dangerous, and stupid. If you ever come upon this kind of behavior, find a responsible adult you trust to help you out." But instead, we have wonderfully blatant generalizations again that do a great job of furthering ignorance and irrational fear rather than safety, and instills the image at a young age that those who handle firearms are, well, stupid. In the end, I think that's really the Brady Center's goal. Not safety, not responsibility, but a childish, immature, and irrational desire to remain ignorant of reality and to spread their willful ignorance like a virus on society.

*thinks*

Y'see, this is why I'm having difficulty with the whole "Politics" thing. Each and every government body I've inspected closely is willing to spew this kind of taurus stercus all over the minds of the Peepul in order to stay in power.

*shudder*

'Course, the really sad thing is that people listen to - and believe - this kind of fertiliser. Then again, it's quite a big jump for someone who's not used to thinking in absolute terms to realise that objects are just objects. Guns don't "go off", people fire them.

Ho hum.

cdpruden, the observation about minorities was made once before, and somebody made a parody of the "game" by replacing all the congratulations with tongue-in-cheek racist propaganda. Something about how you did the right thing to keep guns out of the hands of those freeloading Mexicans, and now Bob from Immigration will deport Juan's job-stealing family so you can have a brighter future in a whiter America. Each scenario resolution had something along those lines.

It was better written than that, and quite funny. It requires a certain degree of perspective, but only a great fool would take it seriously.

"Grounded for two weeks with NO TV?" Man, those folks in California sure do have some lenient sentencing. Maybe THAT'S why they've got such a crime problem.

Why does it seem like the main character is always the the white guy and all of the minorities seem to have the problems. Would it have made a difference if Clarence was from a different cultural background? His Aunt was white but were they referring to her as being an unintelligent woman?
Sounds like something the Brady bunch would do.

WRONG! A GUN IS NEVER THE ANSWER TO A PROBLEM!

HHHMMM I wonder if these "people" would think that if they were face to face with someone who intended to rape and kill them and their family?

I guess nobody noticed that at the soccer field, there were tons of soccer moms who rushed in and threw themselves on top of the gun before it went off.

Soccer moms to the rescue! :p

WRONG! A GUN IS NEVER THE ANSWER TO A PROBLEM!

HHHMMM I wonder if these "people" would think that if they were face to face with someone who intended to rape and kill them and their family?

Usually when I've seen that situation posed to strongly anti-gun people, they say they still wouldn't handle a gun.

"Not even to protect your family?"

"No."

"Does your family know you have this attitude and that you value the life of a rapist or murderer above theirs?"

*deafening silence*
