Best gun to have when ammo runs out..................a little humor

February 9, 2003, 11:53 AM
Before there were firearms, knives and bows and arrows- there was the Club.

So you are under attack from BG's. You've fired all of your ammo and missed every shot (I know this could not possibly happen to YOU) or maybe you've taken out one or two and now you are out of ammo (again something that YOU would never do) and a BG is advancing toward you. So that primal thing kicks in.

Now, the only option left to you is to smash the BG upside the head with the paperweight in your hands. What would you want it to be?

My first option was the stock end of my 870, but that has a rubber butt plate. So my second choice is the Ruger GP100- I can really get a grip on that and it's going to cause some damage.

So what do you have in your arsenal that's going to do the job? I'm betting it's not that Glock.

Hey, what do want for Sunday morning?:)

Glock model 30.

10" Bull barrel Ruger .22 MKII: some serious whoopin' with this
miniature "rifle".:what:

"Now, the only option left to you is to smash the BG upside the head with the paperweight in your hands. What would you want it to be?"

The M-1 Garand. When it's empty you fix bayonets and charge the enemy! Ten pounds of fighting fury.

February 9, 2003, 12:15 PM
Now that's some serious hurt! :D

February 9, 2003, 12:39 PM
Mosin carbine. Steel butt plate and the bayonet's always there.

February 9, 2003, 12:48 PM
Rifle--Mosin-Nagant M44.
Handgun--Ruger Super Redhawk .454
Shotgun--Winchester Trench Gun

(and a tomahawk & Bowie knife to back me up!!! )

February 9, 2003, 12:53 PM
50BMG rifle. I've been told even without ammo, it will penetrate 37 of your enemies and the shockwave will knock a plane out of the sky.

February 9, 2003, 12:55 PM
Actually, that's exactly why bayonets were invented.... :D

February 9, 2003, 01:54 PM
My Enfield worked for me before so I will stick with it, and for a pistol I would like to have the Raging Bull.

February 9, 2003, 02:05 PM
I'd put down my Glock 19 and grab a Louisville Slugger and "swing away !"..:D :neener:

February 9, 2003, 02:24 PM
My M1 Garand - either bayonet or steel butt plate.

Ruger Redhawk .44 mag would make a nice war hammer.

February 9, 2003, 03:27 PM
Gotta agree with Triad and Seeker-two. My Mosin M44 - steel buttplate at one end and bayonet at the other.

February 9, 2003, 03:41 PM
One reason to have a Yugo SKS. THE bayonet flips and snaps in place in a second with practice. Or if he charges lunge the muzzle hard.

February 9, 2003, 04:49 PM
My Enfield, with the bayonet fixed. It's sharp AND heavy! :)

February 9, 2003, 05:13 PM
Was also gonna say M44 carbine, several beat me to it.

February 9, 2003, 05:36 PM
I'd just pick up my 900 pound safe, pulling the 10,000 pound rated anchor bolts out of my basement's concrete floor, and hit the SOBs over the head!!! When ARE they gonna come out with a good safe holster?

February 9, 2003, 06:10 PM
That's why military rifles have metal butt plates. Finally.. a good reason to own an M1 or M1a!!!

Of course, getting pistol whipped with 1917 Colt New Service probably would hurt pretty bad.

February 9, 2003, 06:18 PM
A super-lightweight .22 snubby, my physics professors always said it was velocity, not mass, that made the difference. Having an AR15, I gotta use that excuse a lot. :neener:

February 9, 2003, 06:18 PM
The Model 1911 A1....

In the words of Homer J. Simpson.....
"Ahhhhh, pistol whip!"

February 9, 2003, 06:32 PM
'98 Dodge Ram, if I'am out of ammo I'am gona be in my truck to go get some more, can't ya just call time out.

February 9, 2003, 06:36 PM
A 590A1 with a steel butplate would be about ideal. Plenty solid!

For handguns, some of the EAA Witnesses have very sharp grip areas. They could draw some pretty serious blood. And the rear (adjustable) sight on my Springfield Stainless Target was pretty sharp before I had that addressed.

February 9, 2003, 06:53 PM
good ol sks's with the spiffy blades they come with.:uhoh:

If I run out of ammo there are some serious issues going on.

Fix Bayonets!

(Why, are they broken?)

February 9, 2003, 08:50 PM
Long gun: just about anything will work as a club, the real question is how many peices will I be holding after the first time I belt the guy? In terms of all out smashing ability, I've got a .54 lyman plains rifle with a nice curved steel buttplate, and about 7lbs of octagon barrel. It wouldn't be my first choice for a shootin fight but it would do mighty well at busticatin heads :)

Sidearm: Magnum research BFR 45/70. They had one of these in the counter at the store and it actually looked BIGGER than a redhawk in .454  I think I'd rather use either one as a hammer than actually have to shoot it ;)

February 9, 2003, 08:57 PM
The 1911 pattern pistol that I would be carring. Or the Cold Steel Tanto on my sholder harness.

I don't know how anyone could be left alive after I ran out of 12 guage ammo for my 870 with a 24 inch barrel, but if so, then that's what I'll use.

February 9, 2003, 10:46 PM
jump out of my abrams after I run out of ammo???

February 9, 2003, 11:06 PM
Make sure its really empty before you swing it by the barrel coonan, don't want to take a chance on shooting yourself with it ;)

SKS, Enfield, 12ga etc... Decision decisions! ;)

February 10, 2003, 03:45 AM
If I'm out and about, then I'd be kinda limited to something I could conceal (if we ever get the silly law fixed here in WI). Now, I were in my room fighting off the BGs, then we get to go rodeo: Automag on one wall, 30 Broomhandle Bolo on another, tomahawk, 4 katanas, two short swords, a rapier and a Zulu Assegai (all displayed). Don't think I'm gonna have to hit someone with a carry piece in that environment... ;)

February 10, 2003, 04:30 AM
well i want one of those howitzers so when i run out of ammo i can just pick it up and swing it around like a really big bat.

February 10, 2003, 07:59 AM
A GOOD SLAB SIDED .45 Yup, thats what I want to B*tch slap the hell out of the Bad Guy.

February 10, 2003, 08:06 AM

February 10, 2003, 08:35 AM
Mosin-Nagant M-44 carbine. Has flip-out bayonet, and a steel buttplate. Quite nasty from either end.:neener:

February 10, 2003, 08:53 AM
Wood stock Mini-14. Fat chance of running all mags dry to begin with. Short, thin stainless steel barrel not something I'd want to be poked with, even without bayonet. Stock end is rather heavy and has steel butt plate. With all the dings on it already from being rode hard and put up wet, what's a couple more?

February 10, 2003, 10:52 AM
M1 Garand with bayonet - crush your skull or gut you - your choice

If it had to be a pistol, then the Walker Colt, weighs almost as much as some rifles.

February 10, 2003, 12:26 PM
Desert Eagle HandCannon...

you see, the ejection port is large, and it has a rotation-bolt lockup...

I shoot it until it locks the slide back... then as the BG rushes at me, I slam it into his crotch, (ejection port first) and slam the slide release...

then, since ALL the fight is now outta him, I inform him that I'll need the gun back, and proceed to "unrack" his "package" from the weapon... (I'll wager that the rotating bolt hurts BAD!)

February 10, 2003, 02:58 PM
I'd want something with a bayonet...

I think we can all agree it would NOT be an AR.

The AR has many virtues, but smashing things is not one of them.

February 10, 2003, 08:36 PM
I got a Kentucky .32 squirrel rifle. With 44 inch long octagon barrel, it has got to weigh 20 pounds.Only good for one shot then, you could drop it and crush the BG's feet!

February 10, 2003, 09:03 PM
M1 Garand with a 16" Bayonet. Metal buttplate and 16" of cold, pointy steel out front.

Of course, if I could, I would jump in my car and run them all over.

Even better, I could get a Springfield Armory 1911 and saw them to death with the slide serrations:D
