This one needs some help, guys! Right now 78% say the assault ban should be extended, out of 187,282 total votes!

May 10, 2004, 01:51 PM
No matter how many times I see polls like this I wonder what could be going on in the minds of the people who vote to "extend". It seems to me that if somone in their childhood had taken the time to teach them about guns, and gun saftey most people would see how redecilous this bill really is. It dosn't matter weather its an AK-47 with a 200000rd drum mag, it's still just as dangerious as a Rem 700. They both contain the power to take lives, the real power lies in the shooter not the gun.

Also, why is it that every time I see something likes this somebody from Cali. has something to do with it??

We are working very hard in Iraq to get AK-47s off the street, to get Uzis off the streets. The president says we're fighting the war on terror by doing that," said Rep. Chris van Hollen, D-Maryland. "What about the terror right here on our streets at home."

I know Rep. Van Hollen! I don't even feel safe walking down the street anymore with all the AK-47's that are causing TERROR. What ever are we to do!?!?

I will shut up now as I know I am beating a dead horse.

Mr. **********

Dear Mr. *****:

Thank you for contacting me in support of extending the 1994 the federal assault weapons law. I appreciate the opportunity to hear your opinion on this topic and I agree with you.

I agree with President Bill Clinton, President George W. Bush, and the vast majority of the American people on this issue: the 1994 law should be extended. The military-style assault weapons covered under this law - semiautomatic versions of "Streetsweepers," UZIs, AK-47's - are ludicrously unsuited for civilian use and have no place on our streets, where our police officers would be outgunned by the criminals who would carry these weapons. I have co-sponsored H.R. 2038 to extend and strengthen the 1994 ban.

Assault weapon bans work. After the 1994 ban, there were 18 percent fewer assault weapons traced to crime in the first eight months of 1995 than were traced in the same period in 1994.

Your voice has been heard on this issue. I hope you will not hesitate to contact me again if there is ever any way I can be of assistance to you or your family.

Member of Congress

Just voted for Lifting. This stuff is so rediculous, it goes beyond making m laugh, to making my angry. Why are people so ignorant, but I guess I answered my own question with the 3rd word in this sentence.

Why does it seem that so many people are surprised by a CNN poll result?
Only pinko socialist liberals watch CNN, of course the poll will say extend it.
It's not like that poll really matters anyway. The only polls that matter are the ones that put people in office and pass legistration.

Still 3 to 1 against us.

Vote early and vote often.

May 11, 2004, 01:54 PM
Do you REALLY think they have almost 200,000
respondents ??

They'll bend it the way they want.

No one will question it and they will
use it to justify their obvious position.

These things are NEVER scientific.

It's gotta be rigged. The results ratio hasn't changed since I started watching this poll.

May 12, 2004, 12:42 AM
Don't forget foreigners can vote too in these polls, which likely works against us. Just think how much fun it will be when we adopt something like was recently proposed in NY to allow green card holders to vote in state elections. :barf:

May 12, 2004, 12:59 AM
Actually the ratio has changed, but not by much. Going to take weeks at the rate we're going, the poll will be closed by then. :(

This is what always happens with these self-selector polls. Only this time, the Sarah Brady types are stuffing the ballot box. - We usually manage to out stuff them.

May 12, 2004, 12:46 PM
We're only at 27% guys!!!

This is on CNN, so it will be seen by A LOT of people.

Maybe it's time to start voting like the liberal democrats. Often!! ;)

In CA, election night used to be called "night of the living dead", as so many liberal dems rose from their graves and voted.:D

May 13, 2004, 08:29 PM

Going the right way but a loooooooooonnnnnnggggggg way to go. :(
