I'm interested in how the two auto calibers match up to the revo caliber for self defense purposes and hunting. I know the .41 Mag was originally loaded with a lighter load for defense and a heavier one for hunting, and I assume the auto calibers have a wide(wider) selection available as well.

I'm not even a novice when it comes to being able to compare & contrast ballistic numbers. When I asked the question to people that seem to understand, I get the impression that 41 mag is closest to 10mm which when loaded to it potential is hotter than 45 super.
Any real knowledge on this subject, I would appreciate as well :)

Really, if you are talking about self-defense against humans, all three in their hotter loadings go beyond what you really should use from the noise-blast-controllability-penetration point of view.

In hunting, .41 Magnum gets the edge... it can go faster with heavier bullets than anything shy of .44 Magnum. Think 250gr bullets at 1300+ ft/sec and 900+ ft-lbs. Even with hot handloads from appropriately set up guns, you aren't realistically going to push a 10mm too far beyond 800 ft-lbs without using ultra-light (and thus pretty much useless) bullets. The same goes for .45 Super. Maybe more significantly, to match the sectional density of the 250gr .41 Magnum load you'd need a 300gr .45 bullet!

Sean has it pretty much right. The 10mm shines because of its versatility. I can get a 200XTP to shoot accurately at 1450fps from my G20 w/ 6"KKM. This is as good as any mainstream factory .41 ammo. When handloaded though, the .41 will take 280gr WFN to 1200+fps.
