I want to get a 1911 and have my sons intials and DOB on it. Is there any custom 1911 makers that do this? I'm not looking for a match gun something like my gold cup or patriot.

Caspian will issue a personalized serial number receiver. Then any custom shop could assemble a gun on it.

Dan Wesson (http://www.danwessonfirearms.com/) also does custom serial numbers. The website is being updated (verrry slowly, must have Colt disease) so not all offerings are listed. The Contact page is available though and it seems that the best time to call is early in the AM Eastern. Don't bother with E-mail by all accounts.

I've seen several Dan Wesson 1911s with specialized serial numbers. You'll also be getting one heck of a gun.
