i know i've been here a short time but one thing that i really notice about this forum (besides how nice everyone is:)) is that there seems to be alot of cross posting between the general and political sections. usually its something having to do with a poll or a news article about a shooting. most of the time the threads are posted on the same day too. is it wrong to think that this is kind of odd? when i come here usually i browse general, political, handguns general, handguns autoloaders, and sometimes strategies. do some people just come here for a certain section and not even look at the others?

I read the "View New Posts" section.

Ditto the "View New Posts".

Most of the duplicate threads and cross posted threads will get combined or locked when one of the moderators catches them. Not really too much of a problem.

Double Ditto!

Re those duplicate threads, it really isn't much of a problem -- but as a moderator I really, really, really appreciate those folks who take an extra minute to run a quick search for key words from the article before posting it on THR. Some of the hotter news stories get posted (and moved, merged, or closed) a half-dozen times or more ...

A very sincere THANK YOU! to those members who take the time to double check.

It depends on my mood. I usually start in General. I skip L&P about 3/4 of the time - it's bad for my digestion. :)

I spend most of my time in Rifle Country and the handgun sections. I'll only read the shotgun section once in a great while. The rest of the sections I'll venture in to if I'm looking for something specific or just on a whim. That's about it.

As for duplicate stories - it really doesn't take that long to do a few keyword searches. When I find an interesting story to post I find that someone else has beat me to it about 90% of the time.

Rifle Country, mostly. GGD, L&P, S&T. Sometimes Shotguns or Non-Firearm Weapons. I visit everything else very rarely.

May 11, 2004, 02:29 PM
Everytime: General, L&P, Rifles

Occasionally: Handgun General and Autoloader

Every once in a while: Marketplace

I read a little of everything. I rarely post anywhere other than General and Shotguns.

Mostly: General Discussion, Handgun Discussion, Revolver, Autoloader, shotgun and all the classified sections

Sometimes: Rifle Country, L&P, Strategies, rally point, blade forum

May 11, 2004, 04:17 PM
I start at the top and slowly work my way to the bottom. I have allot of time on my hands at work so I can spend several hours here if I choose to.

Funny, I was just thinking about doing a poll to see who went where, you beat me to the punch!

Always the main groups: General, Rifles, Handguns General and Autoloaders.

90% Handloading, Competition, For sale

Every now and again, L&P, Revolvers, Technical Support

May 11, 2004, 06:29 PM
I use the "View New Posts".

I also contact folks in admin, staff, mods...err...usually when "I" didn't do a search or didn't notice something already posted. :o

I basically have been in everyone's way since I got here. I just tend to get in the way moreso in...wait...

Let's keep it simple. I' m less likely to be in Harley's Way,Competition, Blackpowder and Non Firearms.

Always: General, L&P, Handguns: General, Autoloaders, Rifles

Usually: Rifles, Accessories, Gunsmithing

Sometimes: Marketplace, Non-Firearm Weapons, S&T, Rallying Point

May 12, 2004, 11:56 AM
I kinda just go down the list:
General, Rifle, General Handguns, Revolvers, Autos, Handloading.
After that, I will usuall give L&P a quick browse.

Then, I go back to GD and start over again! :D

Actually, this thread is being discussed in another forum....

General gun discussions, handguns: general, revolvers and autoloaders. Once in a great while I will take a look at shotguns.

May 12, 2004, 03:32 PM
I go to Reloading first, followed by General, then General Handguns, then usually Autoloaders or Revolvers, then the various Marketplace forums. Sometimes I check other forums such as L&P, Rifles or Shotguns but not everytime.

May 12, 2004, 06:26 PM
Waaay too much time reading and posting in L&P, I try to resolve to stop spending so much time there, but something alays gets me worked up.

That said, I look at Gen, Revolvers, Rifles a lot too, and some Shotguns and some General Handguns and Autoloaders too.

As a fairly new gun owner, I need more practical knowledge and stop with the political stuff.

Esp. since most of the stuff in L&P is really liberal vs conservative, arguing about Iraq, or election related as opposed to RKBA....

L&P just gets my acid reflux to actin' up.

I start with Revo's then Gen Handguns, Rifles, then finish up with General. By the time I get through that pile, it's time to go to the range again or go to bed.....yawn.:D

Hello. I usually look around in autoloaders, revolvers, reloading, and occassionally, the rifle section. Certainly, I visit the staff area regularly. That's about it.

May 13, 2004, 10:35 AM
Blackpowder, General, Legal/Political.

It's funny that I seem to have less time to read this stuff since I retired.;)

May 13, 2004, 07:16 PM
General Guns, General Handguns, Autoloaders are viewed everytime I log on. Used to hang out in Rifles quite a bit but not so much anymore.

L&P... well, sometimes I just don't have the discipline or tact to reply in L&P. ;)

Everytime: General, L&P, Rifles
