What is the minimal barrel length to get full performance (all powder burned) out of a 300 Whisper?

Monkeyboy,
I don't have any hard info, but "full performance" usually takes quite a bit of barrel lenght. More than most people are willing to haul around. ON the other hand, the .300 whisper has a very small case, therefore limited case capacity. I think your answer would vary greatly based on the type load you are running through you .300 whisper.....a heavy bullet/subsonic load would take less barrel than a lighter bullet/supersonic load.

You are asking me a question much like- "what is the best knife steel" and you know where that question goes........

Another way to answer this is if I had a .300 whisper, I would want at least a 20" barrel to give me flexibility.

Sounds to me like you are considering Tam's .300 whisper? Neat rifle....are you thinking about putting a can on it?

See you at BLADESHOW? Tell your much better half I said hello, and take care of HER child;)

HER child? At least you aren't claiming her as your "future bride". Perhaps little Nick's future bride??

Tam's 300? Naw. More like an AR upper with integral suppressor for 300 Wisper. I want to know what the minimum barrel length is that will give good accuracy performance out at 300 yards with the subsonic ammo. Imagine something that looks like the gemtech Talon only spitting 300 Wisper subsonics.

Not sure about velocity, but if you are concerned about accuracy, 7" should be plenty.

Shorter barrels in my expierence tend to actually be a pinch more accurate, but (sometimes much) slower.

7-10" or so should be all you need. Remenber, you don't WANT too much velocity out of the .300Whisper, or else it'll go 'crack!'
