My husband has been babbling about 9x23mm today, and that started me thinking. Wouldn't a nice, hot 9x23mm be a spiffy carbine round? I don't think that a blow-back action would work, but maybe an MP5-type action.

Think about it. Get yourself a 1911 and an MP5ish longun, both in the same chambering. One reloading rig set for one cartridge would feed both guns. :)

The 9x23 is pretty spiffy. I've only shot them in all out race guns with comps and dot sights. I know a guy that has a custom carry gun built in 9x23 - has an Officer frame and a Commander slide. Well, there's a bit more to it than that, but you get the jist. I've never shot it but I'd think it's a bit of a handful.

My 38 Super Commander is pretty spectacular at night with hot loads, the 9x23 should be that much worse.

Of course, you could always get such a combo in 10mm without much custom building. You can get AR15 uppers in 9x23 or 10mm.
