Does Wal-mrt have any good deals on ammo besides 9mm?

I just cringe when I ask the Wal-mart gun counter people anything gun-related.
I got some good, cheap white box 9mm/.40 target ammo.
What about 12 gauge ammo? Slugs? Buckshot?
Not re-loading related, but ammo-related :)

Sure....the .223 Rem in the WWB 40 round packs is still the best deal in town.
They also have a 100 round 40 S&W pack for about $15 I think....
And 12 gauge shells? Heck yeah....I don't currently have a shotgun, but I have bought some ammo for Norton...and I can tell you that there's a 12 gauge value pack for about $14 (250 shots maybe?)
.22lr 550 bulk pack for about $8
The guy behind me in line at Wal Mart last week was stocking up on .45ACP, though I don't know the price...but I think it's safe to assume with all of the gun and sporting goods stores in the area that Wal Mart was probably the cheapest if this fella' was stocking up there.
Dick's usually has a better deal on 38 and .380 if you can shoot the UMC stuff....about $6.95 on sale and sometimes as low as $5.99 per 50.
Luckily I have the ladies at my local Wal Mart's sporting goods counter trained pretty well now

12 gauge value pack for about $14 (250 shots maybe?) Hehe Scott ... I wish!!! That'd be four boxes of 25 .... no more!:p Not a bad buy tho ..... often the cheapo packs can be 7/8 oz loads as per the Rem bargain packs. The Fed I think is heavier shot charge.
True .. there is the 45acp White Box is a good deal .. that IIRC is about $19 and a bit. Don't shoot .40 but seen it and ... certainly, the 40 round boxes of Win White Box in .223 are pretty good . I get both the 55 grn FMJ and also the 45 grain JHP as well .... still meaning to test those fully in Contender.
Since evaluating some UMC 9mm ... I will never buy that stuff again! Dirty? ... I should say ... and very inconsistent ... the .45acp is little better IMO.
I doubt slugs are that much cheaper .. pricey things at best of times but ... well, guess they'll be about best price.
I wish they stocked something (round here) other than Rem rifle ammo . I mean it's OK but .. some choice'd be nice. Bulk buying deal they must have with Rem I guess. Prices for that are fair tho.

I've bought Winchester slugs at several Wal-Marts. IIRC they run about six bucks for a 15 pack. Good shootin' at a reasonable price.

the 45 bulk packs are 19 .. 40's were like 15 22 were 8-9 for 550..
Shotgunsheels owards hunting season they run deals cant rember cost but was way cheeper to buy bulk packs

The WWB 12 gauge is good for casual skeet ($3 a box), but sometimes the shells are corroded, so be sure to check.
The WWB .223/9mm/etc. are usually fairly decent. Not the cheapest ammo in the world, but convenient.

Tell ya what Mulliga .. since my range test of the R9S (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=1002602) I am way more enthusiastic now about the WWB 9mm ... these were the figures from a 5 shot string ......
Ammo type ........ Winchester White Box 115 grain FMJ
Shot # 1 - 1036.48 fps
Shot # 2 - 1025.41 fps
Shot # 3 - 1037.72 fps
Shot # 4 - 1047.52 fps
Shot # 5 - 1038.97 fps
Low vel = 1025.41
Hi vel = 1037.72
Average vel = 1037.22
Hi-Lo extreme spread = 12.31 (good I reckon!)
Standard Deviation = (too lazy to calc!)
Muzzle energy (based on average vel) = 275 ft lbs
If I get the chance I'll do a test on the .45acp as well .. the results for 9mm show a remarkably consistent load ... and that is good for lower priced ammo IMO.

I can vouch that the 100 packs of .45s&w are $19 and change, and the 50 packs of .40s&w are $10 and change. I picked some up just last week.
I also saw a box of 100 12g rounds, birdshot, I didn't look at the load, but it was selling for right around $25. That was in Salt Lake.

the 50 packs of win 40sw, which you can get in 165 or 180 gr, should only be $8.86.
the 100 round federal or winchester 12 or 20ga in 7.5 or 8 shot 1 1/8 ounce shot should only be $14.97.

the 100 rounds may have been $14.97. When I got home i realized that the idiot at the counter sold me a box of 50 target/range rounds, and a box of 50 home defense (hollow point) rounds. both boxes were 40s&w. I thought I got the good deal of getting both for the price of the target ammo, guess I got screwed, I'll be going back to get some money back tomorrow.

you may want to beat feet back there. wally worlds policy is that they will return ammo ONLY within 24 hours, and with your receipt.

that sux. I bought it last Wednesday, but hey, now I have 50 rnds of hollow point to test out in my new XD. It's not too bad.

it doesn't hurt to try to return it, but only if you still have the receipt. sometimes they will still take it back, but i wouldn't hold my breath. just an FYI, when ammo is returned to a wally world it is not put back on the shelf. it is sent to the local PD and they "destroy" it.

I still have the receipt, I think I will go back, and not necessarily try to return the ammo, just get a refund for the extra 2 bucks I spent on target range, when i paid the price of home defense.

I second what he said, plus-Wal-mart always seems to have something on red-tag Clearance, like slugs.

I have used WWB .40 S&W exclusively, so far. 500+ rds of it through my XD40, no problem. Prices in my area (Ohio) are $15.94 per box of 100 165gr FMJ. The HPs run $13.96 per box of 50. The FMJ have run with no problems. I've had a few FTFeeds with the HP, but I think that was because I wasn't properly seating them in the magazine. I guess I'll just have to go back to the range and confirm :)
Even after tax, walmart has the best deals I can find on .40 S&W.

I think here in Jax, FL its $12.00 for the .40 (115g) for 100 value pack. I'm soon to be an XD40 daddy... so I'm exited!

I usually make a Walmart run once each quarter stock up on what I need and buy in bulk.
Last time I was at Walmart I picked up 1K of 9mm and was asked if I was going postal or if I was going to fight a way.....:scrutiny:
Regardless for that reason I try and keep my trips short, few and very far inbetween.
