UPDATE: Rape in Phoenix

February 10, 2003, 12:49 AM
Just heard the news. The girl told the police yesterday, the 8th, that she was not raped. She made up the story to cover up the time she was spending with her boyfriend. And they said the police will not be charging her with filing a false report.

React as only you can react. If I was the parent, that girl would not come out of her room except for school and when she turned 18.

The word is: Superglue, i.e. put the little 'ho out of bidness.

And why the H--- aren't the cops pressing charges, or at least billing for the time wasted in the 'investigation', like, make her work it off in community service?

Tolleson girl lied about kidnapping

A 12-year-old Tolleson girl admitted Saturday that she lied about being abducted and sexually assaulted as a cover for spending time with her boyfriend.

The seventh-grader told police she was abducted by three men around 8 a.m. Friday while walking to P.H. Gonzales Elementary. She claimed she had been raped and later released by the kidnappers.

Detective C. J. Downing called the girl a "pre-teen struggling in whatever teenagers go through" who "made some bad decisions." Downing said she had no desire to charge the girl with falsifying a police report.

Her parents reportedly knew about the boyfriend, a minor. The girl didn't tell investigators why she lied, Downing added.

"It's unfortunate that this happened," said Diane Hamilton, superintendent of the Tolleson Elementary School District. "It certainly sent the whole community into shock."

Part of the reason for the concern was that the reported attack appeared to be one of a growing number of Valley assaults on girls. The latest assault occurred early Tuesday, when a 12-year-old Gilbert girl was kidnapped and sexually assaulted while walking to a friend's house.

Hamilton said although the truth is out, the fear is still real for young children.

School district officials plan to work with law enforcement agencies to help form community awareness groups and keep students and their families abreast of safety issues.

"I think it was a wake-up call . . . that we can't take things for granted," she added.

Hamilton sent home a letter to parents Friday afternoon about the reported incident and will send a correction letter Monday. Crisis counselors will still be available at the school this week.http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/0209abduct09.html
